The Veterinary Assistant provides operational and patient care support for the surgery and Urgent Care patients at the OSU Veterinary Medical Center - Dublin. Primary responsibilities include maintaining equipment and instrumentation for the surgical procedures performed, assisting faculty and technicians with the assessment and treatment of patients, general patient care, and assisting with various procedures. Position requires detailed knowledge of biological parameters and the ability to differentiate normal and abnormal values, knowledge of restraint techniques, as well as triage practices. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with acquiring vitals on stable patients and documenting appropriate information in the medical record. Excellent communications skills are required. Must be able to maintain a clean and efficient working area and may perform basic cleaning duties such as dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, and trash removal. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Requires a successful background check.
Hiring Range: $18.00 - $20.74 per hour
Physical Requirements:
Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50-75 pounds, exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases, exposure to needle sticks, biohazardous waste, and hazardous chemicals. EXPOSURE TO NEEDLE STICKS, HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS, AND/OR BIO-HAZARDOUS WASTE
