[What the role is]
Successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team to implement fish health protocols at the Marine Aquaculture Centre (MAC) and refine culture techniques and animal husbandry practices to improve overall fish health management.
[What you will be working on]
- Implement and oversee compliance of existing procedures and protocols regarding fish health and biosecurity at MAC e.g. monitoring, reporting and corrective actions (if necessary).
- Improve fish disease diagnostic capability at MAC. This includes the conduct of fish or water sampling and engaging relevant laboratories/ companies for the analysis of samples.
- Review requirements and processes to improve MAC’s biosecurity and fish health management
- Collaborate with industry stakeholders and academic researchers on fish health R&D
- Provide technical advice and service to SFA with regards to fish health management for the industry
- Perform other related duties as required for the smooth operation of the MAC
[What we are looking for]
- Veterinary degree, preferably with specialisation in aquatic animal health
- Preferably with relevant work experience in aquaculture
- Familiar with the Guidelines on the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes set forth by the National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to collaborate across different teams to complete fish health management projects or actions
- Prepared to work on weekends and after office hours when necessary.
