Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is searching for a self-motivated Versatile Technologist (Mid-Level, Senior or Lead) to support end-to-end solutions in a growing portfolio that provides operations and engineering improvements of mission-critical systems in a dynamic real-time operations environment for the Mission Systems Operations Team located in Herndon, VA.

As a member of the Mission Systems Operations Team, you are an integral part in developing hardware and software solutions for proprietary programs for our client. We translate customer needs into detailed requirements for system integrated designs including system architectures for current operations and program growth, facility design, hardware selection, software selection/development, system integration, testing and operations/maintenance.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzes computing requirements

  • Leads a multidisciplinary range of technical systems and application activities

  • Leads activities to install, configure and maintain multi-platform systems hardware, software and components

  • Leads activities to plan, develop, design, integrate and maintain all computer applications

  • Plans and coordinates highly complex software and hardware for enterprise release

  • Ensures systems conform with architectural objectives

  • Evaluates complex system's production readiness and supportability

  • Performs complex system problem identification and resolution

  • Leads activities to integrate security solutions into information systems

  • Integrate security solutions into information systems

  • Experience in both Windows and Linux administration, or one with the ability to learn

  • Performs initial assessments of feasibility of architecture solutions and alternatives

  • Performs initial assessment of product suitability for integration into delivery system environments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance and current Counterintelligence Polygraph (CIP) (U.S. Citizenship Required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Willingness to upgrade from CIP to FSP (Full Scop Polygraph) or already have a current Full Scop Polygraph (FSP)

  • Level 3: 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to lead technical teams and projects

  • Experience setting up and managing hardware and software on different platforms

  • Skills in designing and maintaining computer applications

  • Experience planning software and hardware releases

  • Knowledge of system architecture and standards

  • Ability to check if systems are ready for production and support

  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex systems

  • Experience adding security features to information systems

  • Experience with Windows or Linux system administration, or willingness to learn

  • Ability to evaluate if solutions and products will work well in the system

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 4: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 5: 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Advanced experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams

  • Strong background in both Windows and Linux system administration

  • Experience with real-time operations and mission-critical systems

  • Knowledge of hardware and software integration best practices

  • Experience with security solution implementation in complex systems

  • Familiarity with system architecture design and evaluation

  • Experience with enterprise-level software and hardware release management

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools

  • Experience working in defense or aerospace environments

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $96,050.00 - $129,950.00

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $119,850.00 - $162,150.00

Summary pay range for Lead (Level 5): $146,200.00 - $197,800.00
