Purpose of Role: Weir Marine Engineering is currently looking for an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Test Agent for the IV&V team supporting the River Class Destroyer project. This permanent full-time position is based in Dartmouth (NS) at the Bluenose Building with teleworking possibilities. Weir operates and manages the Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE), a Department of National Defence (DND) facility located in Montreal with detachments in Halifax, Victoria and Ottawa/Gatineau. Our team of experts support the Royal Canadian Navy and DND with test and evaluation services in a wide variety of technical areas.

Key Responsibilities:
IV&V Governance & Documentation: Develop IV&V governance materials, including Standard Operating Procedures, checklists, reports, and supporting documentation.
Test & Trials Planning and Readiness: Support Land Based Test Facility planning activities, including Integrated Test & Trials Plans, Test Sequence Networks (TSN), Test Indexes, and Time‑Phased TSNs; conduct Technical Document Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.
Test Execution, Analysis & Reporting: Participate in Test & Trials conduct through observation, analyze Test & Evaluation (T&E) data, review Verification, Validation & Acceptance criteria, and prepare summary reports for all T&E initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & PMO Support: Liaise with subject matter experts, DND stakeholders, and suppliers; support Project Management Office (PMO) Requirements, Certification & Design meetings and working groups; maintain Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel status through required training.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Security: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada.
Education: Bachelor degree of Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer) or equivalent, or candidates with suitable military experience;
Mandatory: Familiarity with Systems Verification and Validation techniques, with Integration, Test and Trials techniques;
Mandatory: Knowledge of the Systems Engineering Lifecycle, and Ability to define technical requirements;
Mandatory: Skilled in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels (both in-person and electronically) with peers, supervisors, and clients. Capable of drafting reports, technical correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Desirable: Familiarity with the techniques of systems engineering and software configuration control applications.
Desirable: Strong technical and stakeholder capabilities, including familiarity with Requirements Management tools, understanding of Engineering Analysis methods and Simulation/Stimulation/Analysis tools, and experience working directly with customers and suppliers.
Desirable: Experience in the defence industry or working with Naval systems.
