Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Vendor Program Specialist is responsible for managing vendor credentialing tasks from the time potential vendors are identified through the vetting process and through the long term management of vendor credentialing. The position supports the due diligence of the review, evaluation and analysis of current and potential vendors. The incumbent is required to provide excellent customer service skills.Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree, preferably in a related field (business, paralegal, or healthcare administration) or equivalent experience
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Two (2) years of experience in one or a combination of the following functions: vendor credentialing, vendor contracting, healthcare clinical and/or administrative operations, healthcare compliance
Ability to perform research, reading, interpreting and writing technical specifications and documentation
Able to take initiative in fast-paced work environment and to interface with all functions at all levels within and outside the organization
Possess excellent customer service skills
Demonstrated effective data input and analysis skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
Strong computer knowledge and skills, including in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing
Principal Accountabilities
Assist with the evaluation and analysis of vendor qualifications based on the System’s requirements and investigates or escalates to ensure a high level of confidence in the credentialing outcome.
Responsible for monitoring contractual requirements, managing, and providing overall oversight of vendor setup based upon corporate and departmental policies, as well as, accreditation, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with new customers to obtain complete data and information necessary to establish new customers in vendor databases.
Interacts with external and internal stakeholders as necessary. Builds and maintains external vendor relationships.
Oversees day to day management of vendor data systems and makes recommendations for process improvements.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
