Vending Floor Supervisor

The Vending Floor Supervisor is responsible for leading vendors, vending leads, and vending support staff to deliver efficient, mobile food and beverage service throughout Rogers Centre, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction, product integrity, and sales performance. The role oversees event-day vending operations, including staffing, inventory and electronic payment controls, and adherence to Legends, venue, and regulatory standards.

The Role

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise vendors, vending leads, and vending support staff during events, ensuring they are properly briefed, equipped, and deployed to designated zones to maximize coverage and sales.
  • Develop and maintain effective floor control, including monitoring traffic patterns and sales trends to position vendors strategically and adjust assignments throughout the event.
  • Provide ongoing training, direction, and coaching to front-line vending staff on service standards, product knowledge, responsible alcohol service, and safety practices.
  • Ensure all required event logs and documentation (e.g., labour, inventory, food safety, incident reports) are accurately completed and submitted in accordance with company procedures.
  • Oversee electronic payment and reconciliation processes in a cashless environment, including vendor POS usage, end-of-shift settlement, and review of discrepancies.
  • Manage inventory for assigned vending locations, including counting opening and closing inventory, tracking transfers and returns, monitoring product levels, and balancing inventory to event sales.
  • Place and adjust daily orders in collaboration with the Vending Manager to ensure appropriate stock levels based on projections, actual sales, and upcoming events.
  • Monitor waste and spoilage, implementing practices to minimize loss while maintaining food quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure all vending areas, storage spaces, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and in compliance with Legends and Rogers Centre guidelines always.
  • Manage guest inquiries, requests, and complaints that cannot be resolved by vendors, providing timely, professional resolutions and escalating when necessary.
  • Enforce all corporate, facility, and government regulations, including those related to alcohol service, food safety, health and safety, and accessibility.
  • Serve as a role model for the team by consistently demonstrating professional conduct, adherence to uniform standards, and an initiative-taking, guest-first mindset.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and support a large, mobile front-line team in a high-volume, event-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear verbal direction and effective, respectful interaction with guests, staff, and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain control of multiple moving parts across a large, crowded venue.
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities, including sound decision-making under pressure and in high-traffic situations.
  • Comfort working with POS systems, handheld devices, inventory tools, and basic reporting to support event operations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, and to coach others on compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in vending, concessions, food and beverage, or a similar high-volume service operation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control practices, including counts, transfers, reconciliation, and loss prevention, ideally within a stadium or arena environment.
  • Smart Serve certification and minimum legal serving age as required in Ontario.
  • Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain) and working knowledge of safe food handling standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and high-volume situations simultaneously while maintaining service quality.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse teams and guests, with the ability to receive direction from management and implement it effectively on the floor.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on the Rogers Centre event schedule.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the concourses, seating areas, and back-of-house spaces for the duration of events.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting of product and supplies, including cases of beverages, kegs, bins of ice, and other miscellaneous ingredients, typically within a heavy lifting range.
  • Frequent speaking and hearing in a loud, crowded environment to communicate with vendors, guests, and other departments.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling product, operating handheld devices/POS units and radios, and completing documentation.
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment that may include stairs, variable temperatures, and large crowds over extended periods.
