Job Description and Responsibilities

The Processor will play a crucial role in the vehicle processing operations. This position involves systematically draining all appropriate fluids from vehicles to ensure safe disposal and environmental compliance. Additionally, the Processor will be responsible for the careful removal of non-ferrous materials, such as aluminum and copper, from cars. This process not only facilitates the safe recycling of materials but also contributes to the overall efficiency of our operations. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential in this role to promote a safe working environment and effective resource recovery.

  • Drain appropriate automobile fluids (gasoline, antifreeze, etc.) to assist with the processing of vehicles

  • Remove the catalytic converter from vehicles as needed

  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any procedural abnormalities

  • Keeps the work area clean

  • Observes and follows all safety rules and regulations

  • Remove tires and rims from vehicles

  • Performs other duties as they may be assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or CAEC/GED, or must pass a company comprehension assessment

  • No experience necessary, but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrap yard/auto part environment will be considered an asset

  • Must have a Class 5 license to drive the yard vehicle

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work (remote location, not accessible by bus)

  • Knowledge of automotive components is an asset

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day

  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions, including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions

  • Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise

  • Strong communication skills – communicates clearly and concisely, verbally, over mobile radio devices, and in writing

  • Polite and friendly with a customer service orientation

  • Strong work ethic – uses time efficiently

  • Able to work with minimal supervision/general oversight
