Overview

Building on our established expertise in the blockchain space through the R-co Thematic Blockchain Global Equity fund, which has successfully invested in companies exposed to blockchain technologies since its inception, Rothschild & Co Asset Management is aiming to develop a new investment vehicle to capitalize on emerging innovations in the blockchain, digital assets and Web3 ecosystems. As such, we are seeking a highly motivated VC Principal to join our investment team, with a focus on early-stage digital asset investing. This role involves sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments in both token and equity deals within the rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem. Drawing on Rothschild & Co's global network and financial expertise, you will contribute to building a portfolio of category-defining companies and protocols that reshape trillion-dollar markets through blockchain, DeFi, and related technologies. Inspired by leading crypto-native firms, this position emphasizes thesis-driven investing, first-principles thinking, and autonomy in identifying generational opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Source and originate investment opportunities in early-stage digital assets, including tokens, equity, and hybrid structures, by leveraging personal networks, industry events, and ecosystem relationships.

  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including financial modeling, technical analysis, market assessment, and risk evaluation of protocols, companies, and token economics.

  • Lead deal execution, from term sheet negotiation to closing, collaborating with legal, compliance, and operations teams.

  • Monitor and manage portfolio investments, providing strategic support to founders and teams on growth, governance, and scaling in the crypto space.

  • Contribute to thought leadership through research, publications, and speaking engagements on topics like blockchain infrastructures, DeFi, blockchain security, and digital asset valuation methodologies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate digital assets into broader investment strategies, fostering synergies with traditional finance.

  • Stay ahead of market trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements in crypto to inform investment theses.

  • Contribute to fund raising and marketing activities.

Profile Required

  • 6-8 years of experience in venture capital or private equity, with a strong focus on technology investments; prior exposure to digital assets, blockchain, or crypto is highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated track record of sourcing and closing deals in early-stage tech or fintech, ideally including token or equity investments in high-growth startups.

  • Strong technical foundation, with the ability to evaluate protocols, smart contracts, and token models; familiarity with languages like Solidity or experience in other tech ecosystems is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial modeling, valuation techniques, and first-principles thinking to assess complex, fast-moving opportunities.

  • Proven network in the global tech communities, with the autonomy to identify and pursue high-conviction investments.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) advantageous.

  • Passionate about institutionalizing digital assets as an investable class and a collaborative mindset.

  • Fluency in English required; additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Korean) are beneficial for engaging global ecosystems.
