Title and Summary

UX/Product Designer

Manager, Product Experience Design

Mastercard is looking for a brilliant and passionate product experience designer to join our innovation consulting team, Digital Labs, working with Mastercard’s global customer base of Fortune 500 companies and spanning all aspects of global commerce.

In this role you will be a key member of a highly agile team of expert strategists, engineers and UX practitioners working to build proof-of-experience prototypes and support quick-to-market pilots. You will create rich, engaging experiences to bring highly conceptual ideas to life. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a world-class innovation team, dynamically solving real-world customer problems, and delivering transformational product and service solutions focused on globally trending topics and issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work with a team of product strategists, engineers, and designers to co-innovate directly with Mastercard clients via rapid ideation and prototyping Design Thinking sprints. This job requires ~25-35% travel. (Willingness to travel is a must, and a desire to travel is a plus.)

For each project, you will work quickly to understand the client’s goals, the users’ needs, the problem to be solved, and collaborate with the team on the best approach. You will define the product and user experience based on research, best practices, and client inputs, and be responsible for creating design artifacts including sketches, story maps, wireframes, visual designs, and/or interactive prototypes as needed – all while collaborating closely with the client and the Digital Labs team.

This is a fast-paced environment, with a wide variety of clients and topics. The work is highly conceptual, as we are tasked with bringing our client’s ideas to life, using user-focused methods, to inspire them with what is possible.

In addition to these Design Thinking concepts, you may support longer-term engagements such as detailed design iterations and prototyping for concept and usability testing, as well as pilots.

As a member of the Digital Labs team you will also work to deepen our future design and innovation capabilities and support our growth, both in-region and globally.

DESIRED SKILLS

Strong experience in a UX Designer role, ~3-5 years, mobile design experience preferred.

Ability to present designs clearly and succinctly, explain how design decisions map to user needs and expectations, and contribute to constructive conversations with executive-level clients.

Strong presentation and story-telling skills to support alignment and buy-in from stakeholders.

Experience working closely and successfully with developers and product owners, and ability to help drive consensus amongst differing viewpoints.

Ability to work quickly and independently, make decisions with ambiguous inputs, and to accept feedback, direction, and shifting priorities graciously.

Strong visual design skills and a passion for creating compelling, intuitive, and beautiful interfaces.

Strong experience creating and using a variety of design artifacts, for example personas, journey maps, user flows, scenarios, storyboards, sketches, and wireframes.

Experience with Design Thinking or other user experience design and ideation methodologies and techniques. (Experience facilitating design exercises a plus.)

Strong experience with common UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

Ability to contribute to healthy team dynamics and navigate with emotional intelligence.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with print design, illustration, and/or visual identity a strong plus.

Experience in both start-up and corporate environments a plus.
