General Summary:
The UX Researcher is responsible for understanding user needs, preferences, and behaviors to drive the design and development of user-centered products and experiences. This role works in partnership with cross-functional teams and will contribute to the overall success of product development efforts by advocating for the user and ensuring that their perspectives are incorporated throughout the design process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides support to the Product Management teams, with a high attention to detail
• Researches, analyzes, and documents findings
• May coach and review the work of other team members
• Conducts user research studies using various qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and engineers, to gather requirements and understand project objectives
• Plans and executes research initiatives, including defining research goals, developing research plans, and determining appropriate methodologies
• Recruits participants for research studies and coordinate schedules for interviews and usability testing sessions
• Collects and analyzes user data, translating findings into actionable insights that inform product design decisions
• Creates research reports and presentations, effectively communicating research findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Collaborates with designers to create prototypes and conduct iterative usability testing to validate design decisions
• Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in UX research methodologies
• Advocates for the user throughout the product development process, ensuring that user needs and preferences are considered and incorporated into design decisions
• Supports the development and maintenance of research documentation, including research protocols and participant profiles
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:
• Ability to manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision
• Advanced knowledge of applicable work area
• Ability to situationally adapt and understand new technology/processes as per business requirements
• Solid understanding of UX research methodologies, principles, and best practices
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from research data
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey research findings and recommendations
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, gathering requirements and aligning research efforts with project goals
• Detail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and completeness in research documentation and data collection
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously
• Passion for user-centered design and a curiosity for understanding user behavior
• Preferred: Knowledge of UX design principles and processes
• Preferred: Basic understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design
• Preferred: Proficiency in using UX research software, such as usability testing, survey, and web analytics tools like Pendo, Maze, Dovetail, and FigJam, or similar
• Preferred: Familiarity with web analytics tools like Google Analytics and Pendo
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience
• 4+ years of relevant experience
• Preferred: experience conducting user research studies using qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, including user interviews and usability tests
