We’re looking for a curious and creative UX Product Service Designer (known at Flinders as a Digital Experience Designer) to help shape how students and staff experience our digital services.

About the Role

Working across the end-to-end design lifecycle, you’ll contribute from research and discovery through to design and delivery turning insights into practical, high-impact solutions. You’ll create clear, engaging design outputs such as wireframes, prototypes, journey maps and service blueprints, helping teams bring better experiences to life.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders, developers, and project teams across the University, contributing to a growing Digital Experience practice and supporting a more consistent, human-centred approach to design at scale.

Some of the key position responsibilities are:

  • Delivering end‑to‑end experience design across research, interaction design, visual design, and service design to ensure high‑quality, usable, and effective digital experiences

  • Applying enterprise personas, lifecycles, and experience principles within project delivery to ensure consistency across products, services, and initiatives

  • Embedding usability, accessibility, and inclusive design considerations into experience solutions, and advocating for user‑centred design practices across the organisation.

  • Providing guidance and support on UX methodologies and best practices to team members, contributing to a collaborative and learning‑oriented design culture

About You

You are a human-centred designer who enjoys solving complex problems and creating simple, thoughtful solutions.

You bring curiosity, empathy and creativity to your work and enjoy collaborating with others to turn ideas into tangible outcomes. You are confident working across different stages of the design process and are motivated to continuously learn and improve.  Your experience includes creating artefacts such as journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes, use of tools such as Figma, Miro or similar and the ability to translate insights into clear, practical design solutions

Other keys to success are:

  • Experience in UX, UI, and service design, with a portfolio demonstrating your work

  • Understanding of user-centred design methods, including research, prototyping and testing

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • A passion for usability, accessibility, and inclusive design

You will also hold a relevant university degree in Human-Computer Interaction, design or a related field with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.

About Information and Digital Services 

Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more.

How to Apply and Information

  • You are required to submit a portfolio of your work, showcasing your UX, UI, and service design skills, design processes, and deliverables, a CV, and a Suitability Statement of no more than 3 pages, addressing the  below Key Position Capabilities of the Position description

    • Demonstrated ability to contribute to Digital Experience strategy and practice through delivery, applying strategic thinking to improve design approaches, frameworks, and outcomes.

    • Experience applying and contributing to shared design artefacts (e.g. personas, lifecycle journeys, experience standards), and using them consistently across multiple initiatives or products.

    • Proficiency in contemporary design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar.

    • High level facilitation and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate user needs and business goals into practical and effective design solutions.

    • Demonstrated experience working in Agile, iterative delivery environments.
