UX Product Director:

The Director, Product Design will play a pivotal role in ensuring a unified and cohesive user experience across Pfizer’s digital products. This role will oversee the governance and operations of the PfizerForAll (PFA) design system, acting as its primary owner and advocate. Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Marketing UX, and working closely with the PFA Product team, this role will provide strategic oversight and program leadership to unify design efforts, optimize workflows, and elevate the PFA customer engagement ecosystem. The Director will work closely with UX, brand, product and development teams to drive the adoption and continuous evolution of the PFA design system strategy, manage the roadmap, and document guidelines. In addition, they will be responsible for providing training and support to internal teams and AORs and communicating the design system's value to stakeholders. They will play an important role in aligning the design system with PFA’s business goals and keeping the organization updated on industry trends. Strong communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential for success in this role. 

  

Key Responsibilities: 

The Director, Product Design will combine their product, design, UX and technical expertise with their strong communication skills to empower teams to build beautiful, functional, and business aligned products easily and efficiently.  

 

Design Strategy & Vision 

 

  • Own and evolve the holistic design vision for the PfizerForAll ecosystem across web and product experiences, ensuring consistency across therapeutic areas, features, and end‑to‑end journeys. 

  • Translate Product‑defined strategy, business priorities, and user insights into clear design principles, frameworks, and experience standards that scale over time. 

  • Partner closely with Product Leadership as a strategic design advisor, contributing user‑centered perspectives to inform—but not own—roadmap direction and decisions. 

 

Product & Experience Design Leadership 

  • Lead design execution across complex, end‑to‑end user journeys, including condition education, screeners, doctor finders, financial assistance, and care preparation. 

  • Ensure design solutions are grounded in research, usability testing, performance data, and experimentation insights, in alignment with Product requirements and priorities. 

  • Guide the evolution of core components, templates, and interaction patterns to support rapid iteration, continuous optimization, and Product‑led feature development.  

 

Design Systems & Foundations 

  • Own and scale the PfizerForAll design system, including navigation models, accessibility standards, component libraries, and content frameworks. 

  • Partner with Engineering and Platform teams to ensure design system adoption, quality, and long‑term maintainability in support of Product delivery. 

  • Champion accessibility, inclusive design, and regulatory‑aware best practices across all experiences. 

 

Team & Partner Leadership 

  • Provide strong creative direction and oversight to external agency partners and internal contractors  

  • Enforce clear design workflows, critique rituals, and quality standards that enable effective collaboration with Product and Engineering teams. 

  • Foster a culture of design excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning. 

 

CrossFunctional Collaboration 

  • Work in close partnership with Product, Engineering, Content, Legal, Privacy, and Analytics teams, with Product retaining ownership of prioritization, tradeoffs, and final product decisions. 

  • Represent Design in senior‑level forums, clearly articulating design rationale, implications, and user impact to support informed Product decision‑making. 

  • Align design execution to Product‑defined priorities across concurrent initiatives, releases, and ongoing optimizations. 

  • PFA/ Axiom to overall Pfizer CMO Design Systems to ensure consistency and efficiency and keep PFA team informed of overall Pfizer CMO Design System decisions 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS  

  • 8+ years of experience as a Senior level Visual and/or UX designer, comfortable creating the strategy and executing on the final product, with a focus on design systems and/or customer experience platforms  

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Experience planning, executing and optimizing a design system for a large multinational brand   

  • Proven leadership in cross-functional program execution, influencing diverse teams without direct authority  

  • Deep understanding of design operations, UX best practices, UX/ AI collaboration and digital ecosystem management  

  • Background in management consulting and/or advertising/marketing agencies, with a focus on strategy, execution, and brand experience  

  • Knowledge of UI and UX design principles and experience working in design system tools and software such as Figma  

  • Experience working in agile development environments  

  • Experience leveraging data driven metrics to inform requirement and roadmap planning  

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or highly regulated industries  

  • Familiarity with front-end development workflows, content management systems, and digital marketing platforms  

  • Track record of driving enterprise-wide transformation efforts related to design, branding, or digital customer engagement 

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $162,900.00 to $261,000.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
