Location/Division Specific Information

This UX Designer role is based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, and is part of the Global Experience Building Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Human Factors, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Composition, Visual Arts, Engineering Design, or related field.

Experience

  • +5 years as a UX designer or similar role.
  • Projects portfolio with well-documented case studies required.

What You’ll Do

  • Design with purpose: Craft thoughtful, user-centered experiences from initial concept and strategythrough front-end implementation for instrument, desktop, web, and mobile applications.
  • Lead design thinking: Drive and advocate for design-led decision-making, providing leadership in developing, pitching, and validating long-term strategies that make our products useful, accessible, and delightful.
  • Collaborate globally: Partner closely with research, engineering, product management, and other cross-functional teams to deliver data-informed, innovative solutions that balance user needs with business objectives.
  • Understand the user: Use data, customer insights, site metrics, and direct feedback to deeply understand user needs and guide iterative improvements that enhance usability and satisfaction.
  • Bring ideas to life: Combine strong concepting, visual design, and execution skills to translate complex requirements into engaging, high-quality designs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Passion for design and innovation, with a deep interest in user interaction, experience design, and research.
  • Proficiency in Figma and other leading design and prototyping tools.
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork abilities, capable of collaborating efficiently across fields and time zones.
  • A strong understanding of build principles, usability, and accessibility guidelines.
  • The ability to balance creativity with technical feasibility, ensuring appealing designs translate seamlessly into functional experiences.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
