Core Responsibilities
- Source and acquire used vehicles through direct purchase channels, trade‑ins, online buying tools, auctions, and third‑party marketplaces
- Conduct accurate vehicle appraisals using market data, condition reports, and reconditioning estimates
- Negotiate purchase prices with customers, vendors, and auction sources to achieve targeted margins
- Manage inbound acquisition leads (online buy‑bids, KBB/ICO, OEM tools, and phone/email inquiries)
- Coordinate vehicle inspections, documentation, and title processing
- Monitor market trends, pricing guides, and competitive benchmarks to adjust buying strategy
- Work closely with sales, recon, and accounting to ensure inventory readiness and compliance
Required Skills & Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in used car buying, appraisal, sales, or inventory management
- Strong understanding of used vehicle market trends, pricing, and depreciation
- Proven negotiation and closing skills
- Ability to accurately assess vehicle condition and reconditioning needs
- Comfortable working with inventory management systems, CRM tools, and appraisal software
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior dealership experience in used car acquisition, used car sales, or inventory management
- Experience using tools such as vAuto, AccuTrade, Kelley Blue Book, Manheim, or OEM appraisal platforms
- Familiarity with auction purchasing (physical and online)
- Bilingual abilities a plus (not required)
