Senior Director, Health & Wellness Communications
As Senior Director of Health & Wellness Communications for Walmart U.S., you’ll define how millions of people experience Walmart’s commitment to better health. You’ll craft and lead bold, integrated storytelling that inspires trust, drives innovation, and brings Walmart’s mission to life—helping people save money and live better through better health. From strategy to story, you’ll shape how Walmart shows up as a healthcare leader for associates, customers, and communities across America.

As a part of Global Communications, the Health & Wellness Communications team is focused on telling powerful stories about innovation, affordability, and connection—spanning pharmacy, optical, clinical care, medical affairs, and digital health. We work at the crossroads of retail, healthcare, and technology—turning insight into impact and purpose into progress. Collaborating across Corporate Affairs, Marketing, and Health & Wellness, you’ll help spark momentum around Walmart’s vision for a healthier, and more accessible future.
What you'll do...
Strategic Communications & Leadership - Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that supports Walmart’s Health & Wellness priorities, spanning pharmacy, optical, clinical services, medical affairs, the Research Institute, and digital health.
- Define and elevate Walmart’s position as a leader in accessible, affordable care through compelling storytelling and thought leadership.
- Partner closely with corporate communications and senior business leadership to ensure Health & Wellness communications are aligned with enterprise priorities and brand strategy.
Executive Counsel - Serve as a trusted advisor to the Health & Wellness and Walmart’s Corporate Affairs leadership team.
- Provide strategic counsel on brand reputation, messaging, and issues management.
- Anticipate emerging opportunities and risks in the health space and guide communications accordingly.
Storytelling & Media Relations - Lead proactive storytelling that showcases Walmart’s impact in advancing health equity and innovation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with health, business, and consumer media outlets.
- Oversee narrative development, earned media strategies, and executive visibility programs that reinforce Walmart’s leadership in health and wellness.
Integrated Collaboration - Work cross-functionally with Corporate Affairs, Marketing, Public Policy, Government Relations, and business units to deliver coordinated, consistent messaging.
- Integrate Health & Wellness storytelling into Walmart’s broader enterprise narrative to drive understanding and engagement across audiences.
Issues & Crisis Management - Anticipate and manage communications around complex or sensitive healthcare issues.
- Partner with Legal, Operations, and Public Policy to protect and enhance Walmart’s reputation and maintain trust with customers, associates, and stakeholders.
Team Leadership - Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Health & Wellness communications team.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability, balancing strategic vision with operational excellence.
Digital & Innovation Mindset - Leverage digital storytelling, AI tools, and emerging platforms to reach audiences in new and engaging ways.
- Use data, insights, and digital analytics to evaluate impact, optimize performance, and continuously improve communications effectiveness.

- Understanding of the evolving health and wellness landscape, including consumer, policy, and technology trends.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
