Principal Full Stack Software Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a
Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the modernization of one of our key enterprise applications. This role is highly hands-on, technically demanding, and ideal for an engineer who excels at building scalable, user-centered platforms while lifting the technical bar across the organization.
As a Principal Engineer, you will steer the technical direction of a multi-million-user application as it transitions from a legacy JSP-based experience to a modern, responsive React Native application that also renders seamlessly on the web through our standardized container architecture. You will collaborate across product, engineering, design, and backend teams to deliver a production-ready solution within 6 months.
This is a role for a builder, an architect, a mentor, and a trusted technical partner.
What You’ll Do
1. Lead the Full-Stack Architecture & Execution
-
Own end-to-end technical delivery of a cross-platform React Native application rendered on mobile and web through a shared container system.
-
Make strategic decisions balancing scalability, performance, user experience, security, and long-term maintainability.
-
Write high-quality, production-grade code as the technical role model for the team.
2. Adopt and Advance the Company’s Container Strategy
-
Implement the standardized container platform to deploy web and mobile experiences consistently.
-
Act as a trusted partner to evolve container framework capabilities, improve developer experience, and ensure best-practice adoption across feature teams.
3. Lead Migration from Legacy JSP to Modern React Native/Web UI
-
Drive the structured migration of legacy JSP screens into modular, component-based React Native code.
-
Ensure parity with existing business logic while improving usability, accessibility, and performance.
-
Define migration sequencing, risk mitigation, and rollout strategy.
4. Establish Development Best Practices & Automation
-
Introduce modern engineering standards including automated testing, coding guidelines, CI/CD pipelines, linting, and observability.
-
Guarantee high-quality through unit testing, integration testing, and UI automation.
-
Mentor and uplift engineers through code reviews, architecture sessions, and hands-on pairing.
5. Integrate GenAI/AI Capabilities Thoughtfully
-
Identify meaningful opportunities to inject GenAI into the product experience (e.g., intelligent suggestions, autofill, contextual support).
-
Leverage GenAI frameworks to enhance developer productivity, improve testing, or streamline workflow automation.
-
Partner with ML/AI teams to integrate AI services safely and responsibly.
6. Collaborate End-to-End Across the Organization
-
Work closely with backend teams to design GraphQL schemas, APIs, and access patterns.
-
Partner with product and UX teams to define a cohesive user experience.
-
Ensure alignment with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a reliable, secure, and scalable solution.
7. Deliver a Production-Ready MVP in Six Months
-
Own key milestones and drive execution across engineering teams to ensure an on-time, high-quality launch.
-
Champion operational readiness, performance validation, accessibility, and end-to-end integration with backend services.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications

-
Prior responsibility for leading migration of legacy enterprise systems to modern stacks.

Experience delivering applications to mobile app stores and/or high-scale web deployments.
-
Demonstrated ability to elevate engineering culture through mentorship, standard-setting, and example-driven leadership.
Who You Are
-
A hands-on engineer who leads by doing, not by delegating.
-
A system thinker capable of balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic architecture.
