Role summary:The Lead for Sam’s Cafe Back of House is responsible for maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and cleanliness in accordance with company policies. This role oversees food preparation, inventory management, and administrative tasks while ensuring associates adhere to sanitation and safety guidelines. The position requires effective supervision, training, and development of team members to deliver consistent service and operational excellence. The Lead fosters strong communication, accountability, and continuous improvement to support business goals and create a positive work environment aligned with Walmart’s values and standards.

What you'll do: -
Maintain cafe safety by ensuring product freshness, cleanliness, and adherence to sanitation guidelines.

Train and instruct associates on food preparation, quality standards, and safety protocols.

Manage food and equipment inventories, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating products.

Oversee administrative tasks such as scheduling, attendance tracking, and deposit preparation.

Lead daily team meetings, monitor food stations, and ensure consistent portion control and customer service.

Develop and support associates through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Promote compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and operational procedures.

Proven experience in supervising and developing teams within a food service environment.

Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.

Ability to manage inventory, including ordering, storage, and rotation of products.

Skilled in food preparation, menu planning, and maintaining consistent food quality.

Effective communication and instructional abilities to train and mentor associates.

Competence in overseeing administrative functions such as scheduling and attendance tracking.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00 - $40.00*
*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
