Payroll Tax Lead

The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as a Payroll Tax Lead, where your expertise will help ensure the financial integrity of a global organization powering the future of energy. In this role, you’ll manage payroll tax operations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and accuracy in every step. You’ll tackle complex challenges such as streamlining tax processes, implementing scalable solutions, and maintaining alignment with evolving regulations. Your work will directly support the reliability of payroll systems that underpin our workforce, enabling us to focus on advancing technologies that strengthen and modernize the power grid. Role will be based onsite Raleigh, NC.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage payroll tax calculations, payments, and filings accurately and on time.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual filings.
  • Review and improve payroll tax processes for efficiency and scalability.
  • Serve as the primary contact for inquiries from employees, agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead year-end activities, including W-2/W-2C processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll tax laws and best practices.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other teams to ensure accurate payroll reporting.
  • Prepare reconciliations of payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience in payroll tax management and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Skilled in payroll systems and tax reporting processes.
  • Ability to perform audits and reconciliations with attention to detail.
