McGill University is seeking a University Registrar and Executive Director of Enrolment Services (ES), one who is visionary, creative, and who places student success and well-being together with the academic mission of the University at the heart of their work.

The incumbent’s responsibilities also span academic and student life across McGill. They lead Enrolment Services and is a pivotal contributor to the work of Strategic Enrolment Management. They implement Senate-approved policies, university strategic plans related to academic planning, and government policy.

Core responsibilities include implementing McGill’s new Undergraduate Student Enrolment & Experience (USEE) Strategic Plan. This mandate emphasizes fostering a collaborative and innovative culture related to enrolment management, one that is prepared to take informed, strategic, and calculated risks to advance institutional priorities. The incumbent will collaborate closely with senior academic and administrative leaders and Faculty Deans to establish and deliver annual undergraduate enrolment targets, assume the strategic oversight of key ES operational imperatives and maintain the archival integrity and accuracy of student records in perpetuity.

Supported by a senior team, the incumbent leads over 125 full-time colleagues who provide services to academic units and to active students and alumni. They provide superior leadership to guide ES in supporting administrative and academic units to meet a broad array of outcomes framed by the above mandate, while also nurturing effective relationships with colleagues in Montreal, Quebec, and pan-Canadian professional communities. With an annual budget of approximately $12M, the incumbent uses resources effectively to deliver their mandate while also being entrepreneurial and generating additional annual net revenue.

As McGill is initiating a period of institutional transformation, McGill’s next Registrar and Executive Director of Enrolment Services must be a changemaker and change-leader, willing to embrace opportunities to contribute to and take part in structural and organizational change and development, including modifications that might impact the units for which the incumbent is responsible.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a relevant graduate degree, fluency in English and French, a minimum of seven years of experience as a senior academic leader and demonstrated experience in all areas of responsibility indicated above, including developing enrolment strategies and achieving institutional enrolment goals, as well as experience in successfully implementing major systems.

They will also have experience effectively leading and supporting the development of large and diverse teams and will demonstrate political astuteness, have excellent judgment, and demonstrate success aligning team responsibilities with organizational priorities.

Within McGill’s ongoing institutional transformation, the incumbent will be a strong, managerially courageous leader and excellent communicator who will strive for consensus while advancing with haste and intention toward clearly and transparently set strategic goals.

Experience as a registrar at a large and complex institution is preferred.

The selected candidate will report directly to the Provost & Executive Vice-President (Academic) and be appointed for a five-year renewable term which will begin in February 2026. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
