POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State University Police and Public Safety Department is responsible for protecting and serving more than 100,000 students, employees as well as visitors at all of our campuses located throughout Pennsylvania. The University Police Records Office is seeking a full-time Records Analyst to work in the centralized University Police Records Office, which manages Police Records for all Penn State Campuses.

This position will:

  • Review confidential police records for accuracy and for compliance with state and federal statutory reporting requirements and to resolve inconsistent information.
  • Create and maintain confidential police files and reports both electronic and hard copy format.
  • Receive, process, disseminate and ensure confidentiality of sensitive criminal history records and protected information.
  • Process requests for confidential police records/criminal history record information.
  • Serve as first-line liaison to internal and external contacts.
  • Provide data entry to department records management system.
  • Answer phones, sort incoming office mail and perform general office duties as assigned.
  • Operate in SharePoint, Excel, and Crystal Reports.

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses the ability to use good judgment when dealing with sensitive information or situations and must maintain confidentiality. They must also possess:

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Ability to work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students and federal/state agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office 365 and database inquiry
  • Ability to multitask
  • Competency to work on time sensitive projects
  • A trusted ability to work with confidential information

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work schedule should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

A fingerprint background check will be required to work within the Police facility in addition to standard background checks. 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None

 

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
