Job Description Summary

The lab of Henry Sucov has funding and projects for several postdocs. Dr. Sucov is a SmartState endowed professor in the Dept. of Regenerative Medicine and as well in the Div. of Cardiology at MUSC. Among other approaches, the lab uses genetic strategies in mice to identify pathways and processes that impact cardiomyocyte proliferation, cytokinesis and polyploidy, and heart regeneration after heart injury. POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR

 

 

Job Duties:

 

35%  In consultation with the PI, design and perform laboratory experiments to advance independent research projects.  Scope of projects to include studies of heart biology, development, regeneration, and/or physiology, and studied using molecular, biochemical, and physiological assays.

 

30%  Oral and written communication of research results (within lab, within MUSC, to external scientific community).  Research progress expected to advance to publications in a manner that will involve writing and editing manuscripts and conference abstracts; oral presentation of results typically using Powerpoint slide shows in a manner that will effectively communicate scientific understanding.

 

15%  Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records.

 

15%  Assist with laboratory maintenance and training of other laboratory personnel.

 

5%  Prepare applications to internal or external sources of fellowship support.

 

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.

FLSA: Salaried

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Candidates must have a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree. Candidates must have research experience in any relevant area of biomedical science, including molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and/or cell biology.
