Serves as the Department of Urology’s Accounting/Fiscal Manager responsible for financial management and analysis for the Departments grants, contracts, and unrestricted funds. Primary responsibilities are providing accurate, timely advice to guide appropriate decision making. The position works closely with and reports to the Department Administrator.

Job Description

Job Duties:

  • 35% Financial Management and Reporting

    • Manages all accounting and financial reporting of University, MUSCP, and MUSCF accounts for the Department of Urology including start-up funds, department expenses, endowments, and other agreements and allocations. Must have a strong understanding of all revenue streams and expenses for the department to ensure budgetary compliance.

    • Generates financial reports for the Department to include income statements, cash balance, available balance, personnel expenditure, and other reports.  Responsible for oversight and initiation of WorkDay processes like approving expenditures, journal entries, and customer invoicing. Serves as a P-Card holder and liaison for the Department.

    • Work with Urology’s fiscal analyst to ensure payroll expenditure reconciliations and advises on revenue/expense variances and other ways to mitigate costs. Supports the preparation of the Departments budget, monthly budget-to-actual reporting, accrual management, costing allocation changes, and commitments / encumbrances.

  •  

    35% - Research and Grant Management

    • Manages the post award financial management for Federal and Foundation grants monitoring expenditures, encumbrances on subcontracts, indirect costs withholdings, revenue generation, and outdated commitments/encumbrances.

    • Performs complex analysis of the divisional grant portfolio then prepares and distributes PI reports in a timely, scheduled routine. Coordinates and conducts monthly meeting, updates and communication with research team members and external partners.

    • Oversees the personnel effort and funding for faculty and staff, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Institutional, and agency specific guidelines.

    • Proactively submits payroll costing allocations, Affiliate Salary Worksheets, and payroll accounting adjustments in WorkDay as needed.

  •  

    10% - Revenue Management

    • Budgets and tracks provider WRVU’s

    • Track funds flow progress monthly

    • Help project revenue and collaborate with Integrated Centers of Clinical expertise (ICCE) to establish trends and areas for improvement.

    • Assist with Monthly reports for distribution to Urology Faculty and at faculty meetings.

  • 10% - Contract Management

    • Assists with determining annual faculty compensation and the preparation of faculty contracts. 

    • Manages Provider Service Agreements (PSAs) and contractual arrangements between MUSC Department of Urology, The College of Medicine, MUSC Community Physicians and other entities. 

    • Tracking and entry of monthly call and other PSA expenses to comply with the terms of the arrangement and to ensure proper transfer of funds between entities.

  • 10% Special Projects

    • Assist with special projects and initiatives related to financial management and strategic planning.

    • Participate in system wide initiatives and meetings to represent the department and improve processes.
