Job Title: UC (Unified Communications) Messaging Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Role Summary

AVEVA are looking for a UC Messaging Engineer with a strong background in Exchange hybrid administration for a globally distributed enterprise environment. As a member of the Unified Communications & Collaboration team, you will be responsible for engineering and maintaining all aspects of AVEVA’s Microsoft 365 email operations, with deep expertise in an Exchange hybrid environment and a solid foundation in Microsoft 365 administration. This key role ensures secure and seamless mail flow and delivers highly reliable messaging and calendaring experiences across a global enterprise. This cross-functional position partners closely with other teams including Security Operations, IAM, and End User Services to support a unified, integrated collaboration ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exchange Hybrid & Messaging Infrastructure Ownership – Architect, operate, and optimize Exchange Hybrid configurations, mail flow, transport services, recipient management, Outlook Client health, and overall messaging reliability across on‑prem and cloud environments.

  • Identity, Directory Sync & Governance Alignment – Monitor and remediate Entra ID Connect/Cloud Sync issues impacting provisioning and GAL; ensure directory hygiene and partner with IAM, Security, and UCC teams on compliance‑driven governance models.

  • Messaging Security & Protection – Maintain and validate MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, journaling, and anti‑spam/phishing defenses; manage Microsoft Defender for M365 and Purview configurations supporting compliance, retention, eDiscovery, and mail hygiene.

  • Automation, Operational Support & Resilience – Build and maintain PowerShell/Graph automation for efficiency and reporting; provide Tier‑3 escalation support, drive RCA efforts, and ensure global follow‑the‑sun operational reliability.

  • Documentation, Knowledge Transfer & Cross‑Team Partnership – Produce runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams; collaborate with partner teams; and serve as backup for broader M365 service escalations.

Essential Capabilities

  • Deep understanding of end-to-end mail flow and email security solutions

  • Production-level experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Exchange in a hybrid environment

  • A solid foundation in Active Directory, Entra ID, & Microsoft 365 administration

  • An eagerness to produce scalable and repeatable administrative tasks through automation

Essential Experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience in Exchange Administration (Exchange Online and Exchange Server 2019/SE).

  • 3+ years of PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph experience used in production environments with error handling, logging, and automation pipelines.

  • Expertise in mail flow troubleshooting (Message Trace, SMTP headers, TLS, DNS).

  • Strong understanding of SPF/DKIM/DMARC and DNS change management.

  • Experience managing M365 tenant-level settings and roles related to messaging services.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce detailed runbooks, architectural documentation, and operational playbooks.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Desirable Experience

  • At least 5 years of professional experience focused in Microsoft 365 productivity application management such as Teams Voice & MTR Administration with at least 3 years of those years in Exchange hybrid administration

  • Familiar with Project management methodologies

  • Knowledge and/or a proven experience with AvePoint Cloud Governance for M365 and Microsoft Defender for M365

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field; or equivalent combination of education/professional experience in a similar role

  • Technical certifications a plus including ITIL and Microsoft certifications
