The Group Medical Underwriting team is growing! We are looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented, and customer-focused individual to join our leadership team as a Group Underwriting Supervisor. In this role, you will support the Underwriting Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring service excellence, and driving continuous improvement.
Our team supports multiple distribution channels and offers a diverse product portfolio including Life, Disability, Critical illness and Extended Health for group clients. You will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and supporting underwriters in delivering accurate and timely decisions.
This is a Hybrid opportunity where you will come into the office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and can work from home on Monday and Friday.
Position Responsibilities:
Support Leadership: Assist the Underwriting Manager in coaching and mentoring a team of underwriters and administrators by fostering engagement and creating career progression.
Operational Oversight: Monitor daily workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing of group medical underwriting cases.
Quality Assurance: Review underwriting decisions for consistency with risk management guidelines and compliance standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal partners (Sales, Operations, Product) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
Escalation Support: Act as a secondary point of contact for escalated cases, providing guidance on moderately complex underwriting issues.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance customer experience.
Reporting & Metrics: Assist in tracking team performance and preparing operational reports for leadership review.
Required Qualifications:
Underwriting Knowledge: Solid understanding of group medical underwriting principles and practices.
Analytical Skills: Ability to assess risk and apply guidelines accurately.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication for internal and external interactions.
Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues effectively and propose practical solutions.
Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative approach to building relationships and supporting team success.

Salary range is expected to be between
