PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Analyze and evaluate the production load and schedules and coordinate the planning, scheduling and control of the manufacturing activities for an assigned area or product to maintain production schedules at the lowest possible cost, and meet delivery requirements.

WORKING PROCEDURE:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

Perform the duties of Production Coordinator "B" and in addition perform the following:

1. Analyze production schedules and material status documents to determine areas of conflict and take appropriate action to meet schedules.

2. Evaluate load and schedules and recommend alternative methods or subcontracting to meet production schedules and advise supervisor of such.

3. Determine present and future load capacities of manufacturing areas which may affect the use of predetermined lead times for scheduling department to quote on jobs.

4. Maintain overall familiarity with assigned area or product responsibility and plan and coordinate the efforts of the lower level production personnel in the performance of assigned duties.

5. Determine the scope and impact of an assigned job and preplan requirements and material to accomplish on-time delivery. Make recommendations to change or improve task.

6. Operate stacker, standup forklift, and hand truck handling equipment to move and stage material between operations.

7. Perform work of equal or lower level as required.

SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

  • Other Work Centers - to status product, analyze schedule status, resolve problems, to give and receive need and promise dates, and to expedite as required - frequent.

  • Planning and Scheduling - to receive and supply schedule information, to resolve schedule conflicts, to clarify Production Orders and resolve discrepancies in the Production Orders and material problems - frequent.

  • Manufacturing Engineering - to communicate correct and change Production Orders and tooling callouts - frequent.

  • Design Engineering - to coordinate the disposition of QNs and to expedite RNs - occasional and drawings - occasional.

  • Shipping - to discuss the delivery of material to the Shipping Department for contract issues - frequent.

  • Purchasing - to expedite orders, and provide MTV/RTV service - occasional.

  • Inventory/Stores - to request material and expedite received materials - frequent.

  • Quality Control - to obtain inspection and resolve problems with paperwork and hardware. - frequent.

  • Receiving - to expedite received materials. - frequent.

  • Manufacturing - to provide priority and service - frequent.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS:

Guide, assist, and provide training (as necessary) to lower level production personnel in the performance of assigned duties.

DIRECTION RECEIVED:

Works under minimum direction of supervisor and/or higher classified personnel.

This is a Union represented position. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

  • Minimum 2 year’s experience with SAP, MRP, and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 25lbs.

  • US Citizenship is a required.

  PREFERRED QUALIFIFCATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as Production Coordinator B or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a Production Control, Scheduling in a Manufacturing environment.
