Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring a Tufting Department Manager to lead the Tufting Assistant manager, Supervisors, and Tufting associates at Shaw Plant 04 in optimizing the Tufting process, to include continual improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Schedule Performance.

Safety Responsibilities:   It is the Plant 4 leadership team’s responsibility to follow the outlined safety responsibilities and support the plant to ensure these responsibilities can be met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  •  Act as liaison between Plant Management and Tufting Department employees by providing an effective line of communication with regard to company policies.

  • Provide direct supervision of Department Supervisors, monitor all departmental production, production quality, processes and procedures and ensure that departmental SMS procedures and instructions are continually followed by all employees.

  • Give direction and support to department employees with regard to achieving departmental goals and objectives as well as coordinate and maintain the Tufting department's workforce in order to ensure that the goals and objectives are feasible.

  • Development and promotion of systems to monitor and analyze machinery and manpower resources to produce needed greige goods.

  • Assure machine maintenance efforts are focused on priorities and effectively scheduled. Improve machine reliability and availability.

  • Evaluate and lead capital and expense project initiatives that will aid the Tufting department in continually improving and maintaining expected performance levels.

  • Attend and/or lead audits of Plant 4 production to determine quality and production opportunities.

  • Assist in developing a departmental budget for expenses and materials, and control costs to optimize product cost and POVA performance.

  • Coordinate and evaluate needed raw material and supplier trials.

  • Effectively lead Departmental, Plant, and Corporate improvement teams, and develop effective communication channels with other Manufacturing facilities

  • Follow the Tufting Manager Leader Standard Work

  • Lead the Tier 1/2 process.

  • Serve on each of the 4 key leadership steering teams of Safety – SLO, Quality – QIT, Reliability – TPM, and People – 4Rocks, to help se the strategy and drive improvement in each area.

  • Partner with plant leadership to set plant strategy.

  • Perform other duties as directed by Plant Manager, Production Manager & Division Leaders.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree (engineering, management, or similar field preferred)

  • Previous Tufting experience preferred

  • Previous Process Engineer experience required

  • Carpet manufacturing experience preferred

  • Previous leadership experience preferred
