What’s the role
Be a key member of Shell Energy Americas team, partnering across commercial and business functions to design and deliver projects, processes and controls solutions that enable compliant, efficient, and value-creating operations in the trading of Natural Gas & Power. The role blends project delivery, process design, and operational risk controls to support Trading & Supply (T&S) business.
As a Project Manager, Commercial Delivery, you are responsible for the following accountabilities:
Support leading small to medium projects (improvements or new business), using Continuous Improvement, project management, process design, and digitalization toolkit to deliver optimal business outcomes and ensure those business changes are Customer Focused, sustainable, fully embedded and in line with Shell standards.
Break down complex processes and work out improvement opportunities using people, process, and/or technology.
Secure stakeholder support and buy-in through demonstration of commercial value and storytelling.
Enable Change Management: Document learning, provide proper training, and ensure sustainability of improvements, business changes, in line with standards and controls
Review and interpret business performance metrics; make improvement recommendations to Product Owners.
Collaborate with business, Information Technology (IT) and Product Owner to identify solutions which are in line with Platform Roadmaps.
Provide assurance on IT project delivery where appropriate.
Project & Process Delivery
Lead and support small-to-medium initiatives (new business or improvements), using Continuous Improvement (CI), project management, process design, and digitalization toolkits to deliver outcomes that are customer-focused, sustainable, and aligned with Shell standards.
Design and build end-to-end processes for new business initiatives, integrating People, Process, and Place; support integration with other Shell businesses and cross-functional process models.
Break down complex processes to identify improvement opportunities across people, process, and technology; secure stakeholder buy-in through commercial value and effective storytelling.
Enable effective change management by documenting key learnings, delivering targeted training, and embedding improvements in alignment with Shell standards. Ensure robust governance and control mechanisms are in place. Provide assurance on IT delivery where appropriate and collaborate closely with Product Owners and IT teams to maintain alignment with platform roadmaps and strategic objectives.
Review and interpret business performance metrics, making improvement recommendations to Product Owners; ensure governance and compliance considerations are embedded in process and project decisions.
Operational Risk & Business Controls
Educate and engage front-office T&S teams on operational risk management and ensure understanding of control expectations for mitigation purpose; build strong stakeholder relationships to deliver fit‑for‑purpose, high‑quality service.
Implement and operate control frameworks, designing best-practice business controls and monitoring daily control activities for operational/compliance risks in trading.
Transition activities from Operational Risk and Market Risk where applicable; collaborate closely to maintain a robust first line of defense.
Run critical processes and reporting: generate reports, analyze data to identify trends, issues, and gaps, and recommend mitigations; pursue efficiencies and automation in control processes and workflows.
Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for controls and continuously improve them.
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification in Project Management is a plus
5+ years' experience in power & gas, finance, tax, or a relevant field; exposure to trading environments with strong understanding of business processes, risk management, business controls, and regulatory requirements
Analytical problem-solver with proficiency in Office and MS-Project; familiarity with trading systems (e.g., Endur, Nucleus, Thunders, Dex)
Language proficiency in English and Portuguese; strong communication, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills; ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
Ability to develop and implement a stakeholder management plan to effectively engage senior stakeholders within a matrix organization, taking into account their varying spheres of influence
Business process mapping, gap analysis, design and implementation expertise; proficiency with Power BI and Power Automate for reporting and workflow automation.
Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset; experience delivering projects/changes and documenting processes; disciplined self-starter and team player
