Trust Officer - Delaware

Fiduciary Trust International is hiring a Trust Officer to join its Wilmington, DE office, consisting of 11 trust professionals. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (two days in office).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer discretionary trust and directed trust accounts while remaining current on relevant laws, issues and topics.

  • Respond to various client requests for wire transfers, discretionary payments, currency transactions, bill paying, deliveries/receives, gifts, contributions, acquisitions, and sales. 

  • Ensure transactions are in compliance with the trust agreement and state laws.

  • Serve as a point of contact for client and intermediary with accountants, attorneys, and other trusted advisors.

  • Coordinate with tax department concerning tax issues arising during the course of the trust administration process. 

  • Review daily overdraft report to determine how to cure income overdrafts.  Coordinate with Portfolio Manager to raise cash to cure principal overdrafts. 

  • Handle termination of trusts in coordination with our Trust Counsel, Investment Department, Tax Departments, and other parties as necessary. 

  • Oversee the new account opening process from KYC to final funding; this included analyzing relevant documents to determine missing legal documentation required for compliance purposes.

  • Manage and oversee, large complex client relationships that include trusts, family limited partnerships, GRATs and foundations.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

  • CTFA preferred

  • 5+ years of previous trust administration experience along with:

    • Detailed understanding of Delaware law

    • Experience managing Delaware directed trusts with complex structures

    • Knowledge of personal trust law and administration

  • International trust administration experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Previous experience working in a small team environment

Compensation: Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary — designed to support their well-being and recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, a 401(k) plan with a generous match, and recognition rewards. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $135,000 - $155,000 depending on level of relevant experience, plus discretionary bonus.
