Trucking Superintendent

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instill Safety as the highest priority across all field activities.
  • Hire, train, develop, and mentor trucking personnel, ensuring strong crew performance.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with project teams.
  • Monitor project schedules and coordinate trucking support sequencing to maintain production goals.
  • Assist in developing and executing work plans, personnel projections, material and equipment needs, and daily/weekly scheduling of trucking support for multiple projects.
  • Identify potential problems, interferences, or schedule delays and collaborate with project management to develop solutions.
  • Lead a disciplined team, delegate responsibilities effectively, and set clear goals to achieve high-quality performance aligned with company expectations and client requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil and/or mining construction with oversight of trucking activities preferred.
  • Five or more years in a supervisory role (Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman).
  • Strong knowledge of mass earthwork, mine infrastructure construction, heavy equipment operations, material hauling and civil construction methods.
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA, Federal, State and Local laws with regards to driver and truck safety compliance.
  • Experience leading and managing crews of 20 or more employees and subcontractors.
  • Understanding cost management, production tracking, planning, and scheduling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Positive attitude with strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Effective time management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Required—primary assignments within Utah.
  • Construction / Mining Site Environment: Requires the ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, climb, and lift or carry materials. Exposure to high noise levels, dust, vibration, and outdoor elements should be expected.
