The Team Leader is responsible and accountable for the continuous safe and efficient emergency response, outage restoration, operations, maintenance and/or construction of the AES Indiana electric transmission and distribution systems. Provides supervision, leadership, communication, and training to others through day-to-day contact. Provides technical advice, training and counsel for difficult operational situations. Assists in prioritizing outages; directs, monitors, and evaluates performance of direct reports within the reporting organization. Prepares, controls, and administers project budgets and schedules to achieve maximum business results relating to overall performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Leads a team of highly skilled Journeyman Electrical Linemen whose primary duties are serving as first responders to emergency calls (e.g., power outages, fires, vehicle accidents, etc.). Makes complex operating, engineering, and economic decisions involving the restoration of customer service following system emergencies and coordinates distribution system efforts with the Transmission Control Center and Electric Services. Prepares and monitors budget compliance; reviews, initiates, plans, and approves projects and departmental improvements. Develops, directs, and coordinates manpower and maintenance schedules; coordinates with DOCC on personnel and project assignments to ensure timeliness, efficiency, safety, and sound economic stewardship. Improves work processes to enhance on-the-job safety, outage mitigation and restoration, quality of work, customer satisfaction, and competitiveness of the division; encourages employee participation to develop suggestions for work simplification and outage restoration improvements. Enforces and complies with all federal safety policies, practices, and procedures; through guidance and training, ensures employees know, understand, and apply all safety rules, OSHA and EPA regulations, good work practices, and proper craftsmanship techniques applicable to their work. Maintains an environment that promotes good customer service, striving to economically meet customer requests within required timeframes; maintains a safe, professional work environment offering employees challenging, meaningful work and opportunities to develop skills and talents. Assists with the review and approval of all Workday timekeeping functions.

Requirements

  • Four years of high school or vocational school
  • Five to seven years’ experience as a journeyman lineman
  • Post-secondary, vocational, or technical training
  • Ability to work with people and knowledge of industry practices related to safe electric utility distribution system operations and the electric service restoration process
  • Strong problem-solving and resource management skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Collaborative communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Four years single-man trouble work
