Job Description

Location: 123 Robert S Kerr Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102

Salary: up to $115,000.00, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time: Full Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

Primary Hours: 8-5

 

Position Description:

The Trauma and EMS Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership, and regulatory oversight statewide. The position works closely with hospitals, EMS agencies, trauma centers, public safety agencies, community stakeholders, and government leadership to improve trauma and emergency medical outcomes.

 

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

 

· Collaborate with the medical director to ensure the development, review, and approval of clinical protocols, standing orders, and treatment guidelines for EMS and trauma care in compliance with Oklahoma Administrative Code and state EMS rules.

· Interpret, implement and update policies and procedures.

· Coordinate with medical directors, hospital administration, and clinicians to assess the need for policies, procedures and protocols relating to the care of trauma patients.

· Lead statewide trauma and EMS planning, policy development, and implementation.

· Represent the service areas on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.

· Collaborate with EMS licensing division to provide licensing, compliance, and regulatory enforcement for EMS agencies and trauma facilities.

· Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for EMS and trauma system performance

· Coordinate with hospitals, EMS providers, regional advisory boards, and emergency response partners.

· Direct quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.

· Lead program staff and manage program budgets.

· Serve as a liaison to state and federal agencies, advisory councils, and stakeholders.

· Lead the development of training and educational resources with system partners.

· Support emergency preparedness and response activities related to EMS and trauma care.

· Ensure protocols are consistent with current medical evidence, clinical guidelines, and best practices.

· Provide recommendations and feedback to EMS services regarding protocol modifications or improvements.

• Monitor clinical outcomes and participate in quality improvement activities, including trauma audits and EMS Agency performance evaluations.

· Collaborate with the Medical Director to provide oversight for National Registry Renewal Approval by the Medical Director for EMS Staff to maintain active status with NREMT.

· Develop statewide medical response plans.

· Communicate with stakeholders regularly and attend stakeholder meetings.

· Collaborate with the program medical director, physicians and other health care professionals to implement the EMS and Trauma program modernization project in accordance with the American college of surgeons’ consultation report.

· Coordinate EMS participation in disaster response and mass casualty incidents.

· Work with emergency management agencies and public safety partners.

· Being present in the office is an essential function of this job

Minimum Qualifications:

· Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a master’s degree in public health, Clinical healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field, and

· five (5) years of management experience including 5 years in a supervisory role. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred Qualification

· Master’s degree in public health, Clinical healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field and 7 years in EMS, trauma systems, emergency medicine, or public health leadership including Experience managing statewide programs or large healthcare systems.

· Paramedic, RN, or related clinical background.

· Experience with trauma registry or EMS data systems.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. May require coordination outside standard business hours during critical operational needs. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
