The Transporter Team is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of Baptist Health patients to all requested departments within the facility, as well as facilitating patient discharge from the hospital. Additionally, the team provides support to patient care units by assisting with maximum-assistance transfers, ensuring proper utilization of approved mechanical lift equipment in accordance with established safety protocols.

Responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients and various items throughout the hospital. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives. Responsible for efficient use of equipment and Epic systems.

Job Description:

Transporter-Full-Time

Responsibility: Patient Transportation 

Essential Duties: 

  • Safely transports patients to departments and for discharge. 

  • Use Epic Transport Tracking system independently. 

  • Maintains pace of 2.5–3.5 jobs/hour. 

  • Meets time standards: in progress 9 min. Complete 9 min.  

  • Reports delays within 2 minutes; minimizes downtime. 

  • Ensures “Ticket to Ride” is accurate and signed. 

  • Assists with equipment, rounding, and other assigned tasks.  

Responsibility: Equipment Care & Professionalism 

Essential Duties: 

  • Properly uses and returns all transport equipment. 

  • Maintains clean, safe environment. 

  • Responds to hospital codes per policy. 

  • Follows dress code and attendance standards. 

 

Responsibility: Accountability 

Essential Duties: 

  • Protects patient confidentiality. 

  • Reports condition changes to nursing staff. 

  • Maintains BLS certification and attends training. 

  • Complies with BHS Corporate Responsibility Program. 

 

Responsibility: Safety & Policy Compliance 

Essential Duties: 

  • Wears safety shoes and required PPE. 

  • Attends safety and infection control training. 

  • Follows hospital safety guidelines and participates in drills. 

 

Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 

  • Basic Life Support BLS certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 1st week of hire.
