This position is within the Life Sciences and Laboratory Products Group (LPG) business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific reporting to the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) Bridgewater, NJ facility.

Join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as a Manager, Transportation and play a key role in leading transportation for LCD AMER, with a focus on quality, compliance, service, and cost improvements. The Transportation Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable transportation, shipping, and packaging regulations, including regulatory training, monitoring changing requirements, verifying compliant packaging, and conducting internal audits to address issues prior to external inspections.

Responsibilities:
• Lead our LCD Americas transportation team to ensure personnel growth and positive customer experience.
• Build an effective inbound and outbound road/air network by applying the appropriate mix of Full Truck Load, Less Than Truck Load, ocean, and parcel carriers.
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments (purchasing, planning, commercial, operations, etc.) to develop the most efficient inbound, outbound, and facility-to-facility strategy while maintaining customer expectations.

• Define and track metrics; maintain unified dashboards and reports on project/program progress.
• Provide divisional financial information (forecast revenue, reporting) and maintain annual budget targets in partnership with senior management.
• Collaborate with corporate transportation to bring to bear standard methodologies and ensure consistency.
• Review and monitor transportation cost containment and drive continuous improvement through analysis and operational enhancement.
• Address sophisticated challenges and develop tools that will empower the team to efficiently resolve issues.
• Support the development and implementation of corporate, divisional, and local-level carrier management programs facilitated by formal review meetings and the creation of performance scorecards.

• Develop, mentor, and evaluate (PMDs) Transportation specialists, and develop Performance Improvement Plans when vital.
• Serve as an effective safety steward by ensuring accurate reporting of near misses and attending safety trainings.
• Operate a safe work environment through continuous safety awareness and full compliance to all EH&S programs and activities.
• Manage the transportation network for LCD Americas to meet business, service, and cost objectives.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation, shipping, and packaging regulations.
• Ensure employees involved in transportation and shipping activities receive required regulatory and compliance training.
• Monitor changes to domestic and international shipping and packaging regulations and implement necessary updates to processes and procedures.
• Verify that packaging materials, methods, and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
• Conduct internal compliance audits and implement corrective actions to address gaps prior to external inspections or regulatory reviews.
• Apply and interpret complex regulatory requirements, including DOT, IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR, and other applicable standards, in daily transportation operations.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, safety, quality, supply chain, and external service providers to ensure transportation activities remain safe, compliant, and efficient.

• Identify, assess, and manage transportation-related risks and support continuous improvement initiatives.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business logistics, finance, or related area; a master's or advanced degree preferred.
•8+ years of transportation/logistics leadership management experience.

Knowledge skills abilities
• Solid understanding of carrier operations and costs required. Must be familiar with all modes of transportation, such as LTL, TL, intermodal, air/ocean freight, and parcel.
• Must have a consistent track record of optimally managing a financial P&L, building, and achieving an annual operating plan that drives year-over-year cost reductions.

• Must have superb coordination skills to plan, coordinate, and set priorities to facilitate timely execution.

• Must possess strong systems (including database management and reporting) and project management skills; must be PC literate in Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $92,900.00–$139,325.00.
