Job Summary: The position is located under the Business Office (BO) at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Healthcare System (EOVA HCS). Will report to the Mobility Manager. Works closely with staff to ensure the Beneficiary Travel, Special Mode Transpiration, Fraud Prevention, Patient Funds and Ambulance billing programs are in compliance. Works closely with clinicians and other health care professionals and team members, other clinics as well as internal services for coordination to meet Veteran transportation needs.

Major Duties:

Responsible to review for accuracy and process Beneficiary Travel claims for the purpose of reimbursing Veterans for travel to and from VA and Community Care medical appointments. Review eligibility of each Veteran before finalizing Beneficiary Travel reimbursement. Attends to all details of voucher processing to prevent the processing of fraudulent claims. Coordinate daily with all vendors for Special Mode Transportation. Review eligibility of each Veteran before authorizing Ambulance billing payments. Evaluate all aspects of fraud research and prevention in accordance with VA Policy. Customer care in accordance with VA policy and ICARE program. Process receipts and withdrawals for Patient Funds in Veterans Personal Finance System. Corrects discrepancies between Veterans Personal Finance System and Financial Management System Responsible for determining method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance and unauthorized ambulance claims for consideration. Receives invoices for payment of transportation services. Investigates authorizations, orders, and/or utilizes the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) to review medical records, forwards for clinical review and supervisory approval and submits all documents for payment utilizing appropriate control point for reference. Responsible for forwarding all invoices certified for payment to Financial Management Service (FMS) for processing. He/she acts as liaison between vendors and FMS for invoices pending payment. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized

Qualifications: Specialized Experience GS-6: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes Scheduling and coordinating transportation for individuals traveling to medical appointments. Planning and managing transportation schedules associated with medical appointments. Coordinating with clinical staff to ensure timely transport of medical patients. Using software programs and web-based systems to extract and organize data. Creating, updating, and maintaining department-wide reports using office software. Providing telephone support to medical passengers regarding transportation needs. Scheduling complex transportation arrangements using public, private, and volunteer services such as train, plane, bus, taxi, wheelchair van, ambulance, and air ambulance.
