Role Overview

The Transport Planner is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of customer orders, with the highest level of customer service. They form a team and have specific tasks to ensure this happens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise, build and plan customer orders to ensure on‑time / in‑full delivery.
  • Ensure effective utilisation of Polypipe vehicles and source external contractors where required.
  • Identify site requirements and take appropriate action, including booking in of loads.
  • Liaise with internal departments regarding stock requirements.
  • Communicate with the sales team regarding any potential delays to the delivery schedule.
  • Despatch and process all required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Create and issue transport reports as required.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Manage returns and collections, ensuring IFS is updated accurately and in real time.
  • Assist with the integration and training of the Operations Admin Apprentice.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of load planning.
  • Geographical knowledge.
  • A good standard of PC literacy.
  • Ability to accurately complete paperwork.
  • Proven ability to work well within a team.
  • Willing and able to learn new skills.
  • Willing and able to work shifts

Working Hours, pay and Benefits

  • Salary of £30,000-£32,000 per year
  • Hours of work are 04:00-12:30, 09:00-18:30 alternating weekly
  • Entitled to 25 days holiday
