As a Transmission Services Engineer, you will help evaluate and support the transmission system studies, models, and tariff processes that keep the grid reliable and ready for future demands. This role combines power system analysis, generator interconnection support, transmission service studies, and Open Access Transmission Tariff administration. You will perform and coordinate technical studies, maintain accurate transmission models, interpret results and tariff requirements, and work with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that support reliable transmission service.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform load flow, short circuit, stability, and other transmission studies to evaluate generator interconnections, transmission service requests, and develop and test system improvements.
  • Build, maintain, and validate transmission system models and study databases used for interconnection and transmission service analysis.
  • Analyze study results and recommend network upgrades, as well as interconnection and operating requirements that support reliable system operations.
  • Support AECI’s generation interconnection and transmission service request processes, including study coordination, affected system coordination, and development and administration of interconnection agreements.
  • Interpret and apply AECI’s Open Access Transmission Tariff, transmission business practices, and applicable FERC and NERC requirements related to transmission service and interconnections.
  • Prepare technical reports, planning documentation, and compliance materials for internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development and improvement of transmission planning processes, tools, and analytical methods.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program; power systems emphasis preferred.
  • 3  to 8 years of power industry or related engineering experience depending on level placement.
  • Understanding of power system analysis, transmission planning processes, and reliability standards.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret study results, exercise sound engineering judgment, and develop practical technical solutions while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience with power system modeling and study tools used for transmission planning, interconnection, and transmission service analysis.
  • Familiarity with Open Access Transmission Tariff administration, Generation Interconnection Procedures and Agreements, and Transmission Service Requests.
  • Knowledge of substation and transmission line design.
  • Experience working with regional planning organizations, transmission owners, RTOs, or industry working groups.
