Job Description

An excellent opportunity is available for a Translational Research Coordinator to join the Personalised Oncology Division (Brain Cancer Centre) at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute on a part time basis.

The Translational Research Coordinator provides technical and operational support for biospecimen and associated data workflows that underpin translational research within the Brain Cancer Centre (BCC). Working under general direction from the BrainPOP Program Manager and laboratory heads of the Brain Cancer Research Lab, the role assists with the retrieval, logging, tracking, and documentation of biospecimens from clinical and archival sources, following established procedures and compliance requirements.

The role supports researchers with biospecimen and data related tasks, including sample requests, data entry, and assisting with established data return processes. The position contributes to smooth laboratory operations and overall research productivity by providing reliable technical and administrative support and may assist with the preparation of reports and routine documentation.

Individuals with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical trial coordinators, laboratory staff, pathology teams, and other stakeholders involved in biospecimen and data workflows are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to follow protocols, take direction, and manage competing priorities.

  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work under general supervision. 

Knowledge and skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in biomedical or health science, or relevant experience.

  • Experience working with biospecimens, research databases, or laboratory workflows.

  • Experience with data entry and management systems such as REDCap or equivalent.

  • Understanding of human research ethics regulations and frameworks, data governance and relevant legislation.

Terms of appointment

This position is available for 2 years in a part time capacity (21 hours per week, 0.6 FTE). Salary is Research Support Employee Level 5 ($82,018 - $94,209). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
