As the Transit Planning & Performance Manager, you will lead all transit planning, performance, and long-range strategic efforts, overseeing service and facility planning, interagency coordination, development review, and required federal and state reporting to support an efficient and future-focused transit system.
Examples of job responsibilities include...
Transit Planning:
Collaborate with Operations and Administration to lead the Planning & Performance team to develop service plans, business planning, transit development, and associated plans as required.
Develop short and long-term public transportation plans and identify growth areas that public transportation can contribute to a multi-modal transportation system and access to alternate modes.
Coordinate with Sarasota County departments to ensure public transportation efforts are coordinated with other modal programs (such as bicycle/pedestrian, sidewalk, roadway, etc.).
Plan and oversee transit facilities improvements (such as bus stops, shelters, transfer stations, mobility hubs, and other facilities).
Inter-agency Coordination and Planning:
Coordinate the technical requirements for transit representatives to the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
Manage planning issues with other municipalities relating to transportation, transit, roadway improvements, and associated land use items.
Coordinate with other transit agencies on planning, service development, and shared services.
Performance Management and Reporting:
Manage functional reporting areas for the National Transit Database (NTD) and ensure compliance.
Oversee the development of performance measures for public transportation with monthly and quarterly reporting.
Development Review and Comprehensive Plan Consistency:
Facilitate review, participation, and transit requirements for development review activities.
Review and update the transit requirements of the County’s Unified Development Code, Comprehensive Plan, and related plans to ensure that public transportation requirements are fully integrated.
Recommend updates to the County’s Unified Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
Occasionally, an evening or weekend meeting or event may be needed, and the schedule may flex on those occasions.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning (Regional and Urban), or related field with 4 years of job-related experience.
OR: Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with 6 years of job-related experience.
OR: 10+ years of related job experience may substitute for the required education, at management discretion.
2+ years of supervisory experience required.
Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

3+ years of professional experience working with local and/or state government and the public.
AICP certification.
Strong knowledge of public policies, principles, and practices.
Proven ability to analyze information, plan, organize, and work independently.
Skilled in building effective working relationships and assessing budgetary and financial needs.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Starting Pay Range: $75,233.60 - $101,566.40
