Goodwin’s Risk Management & Insurance group works across the entire global law firm and advises on a variety of high-stakes insurance issues. A Paralegal in this group will work on projects related to a wide variety of M&A transactions, litigation, and insurance claims. A working knowledge of the structure of insurance policies and the claims process would be highly beneficial. A highly organized, detail-oriented person would do best in this position, as the group touches on hundreds of matters a year.
What You Will Do:
Help manage the Representation & Warranty insurance underwriting process.
Support the administration of large insurance claims related to litigation.
Draft and gather routine correspondence, including notice letters and update emails to insurance carriers.
Review and organize policy documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Manage post-closing deliverables and follow up as needed.
Maintain an organized library of insurance policy documents.
Prepare and maintain documents for attorney review, such as chronologies, summaries, memoranda, charts, and affidavits.
Collect materials from clients and third parties, including hard copies, electronic data, and physical evidence.
Organize information into clear charts, graphs, and timelines.
Coordinate with the billing team and insurers to ensure timely and accurate payments, and track incoming and outgoing payments for Goodwin and its clients.
Who You Are:
BA/BS , Paralegal Certificate or qualifying work experience required
Minimum 2 - 5 years related experience
Strong organizational and communication skills
high level of attention to detail
Capable of handling multiple responsibilities
Ability to work well in a team oriented environment
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
Independently handles unexpected issues that arise during the course of a project
Effectively carries knowledge gained regarding how to perform a task or project to the next, similar project, with no re-explanation, and can at times apply this knowledge to different types of tasks, in order to create efficiencies
Understands how clients’ business needs relate to work assignments without explanation
Handles assignments involving complex matters or fact patterns with supervision from attorneys
Proactively stays informed regarding changes in the law pertaining to practice area
