Job Description
The Transaction Management Team is primarily responsible for the evaluation, execution and oversight of all aspects of the reconciliation process between Brown Advisory and its custodian banks. The team works closely with other operational groups to ensure the firm’s books and records are accurately reconciled for daily trading and reporting needs. The role also includes handling both voluntary and mandatory corporate actions, including researching event details, interpreting terms, and accurately setting up and processing events within the firm’s platform
A successful candidate will be a proven self-starter with an owner/operator mentality who must bring strong accountability, knowledge and detail-orientation to the organization. Ideal candidates demonstrate the ability to independently identify risk areas and streamline processes through improved controls and innovation.
The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Research, evaluate, and process mandatory corporate actions daily
Manage the full lifecycle of voluntary corporate actions, including event research, election review, and post-event validation
Ensure the firm’s portfolio accounting system is accurately updated daily with trading activity, corporate actions, and cash movements to support portfolio management, trading, and performance reporting
Oversee reconciliation operations performed by BPO vendor, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of escalations and effective management of downstream impact
Proactively identify and execute process improvements that drive efficiency and risk reduction that create value for internal and external stakeholders
Analyze key workflows to identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation, AI-driven solutions, and process optimization
Contribute to firm-wide and departmental initiatives that enhance processes, systems, and overall operational effectiveness
Understand the impact of income transactions, corporate actions, and other events on investment vehicles, including their downstream effects on trading and performance reporting
Leverage Excel tools, including lookup functions and pivot tables, to compare large datasets, identify reconciliation breaks, and drive timely resolution
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or 6 years equivalent work experience
2+ years of demonstrated success in financial or business operations field
Demonstrate general market knowledge about stocks, bonds, options, derivatives, etc.
Strong decision making, problem solving, and communication skills, both written and oral
Self-motivated and proactive team player with the ability to work well under pressure
Highly organized and detail oriented
Ability to work independently and on several assignments simultaneously
Proficiency with MS Office applications – Word, Excel, and Outlook
Desired Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Accounting or Economics
General market knowledge on impact of corporate actions, dividend payments, interest payments and adjustments to cost basis
General knowledge on security characteristics and market dynamics, and how these factors impact reconciliation
Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance workflows, including automation, data analysis, and improving efficiency in operational processes
Experience with SS&C Advent’s APX accounting platform
Experience with FIS XSPrisa for corporate actions
Experience with Bloomberg Terminal
Familiarity with IRS cost basis requirements
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B , O-1, F-1 (OPT), TN, or any other non-immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship)
MD Salary: $65 - 70k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
