Major Duties:

  • Gathers data and formulates requirements relative to instructional systems and provides direct support to technical training activities Serves as the resident subject matter expert for all mandated technical training support programs Performs or participates in special projects Performs a variety of administrative duties

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, 1702 Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-5, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of technical training programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in the support of technical training functions. Knowledge of the unit's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in technical training programs. Knowledge of the technical training program mission and objectives to 'perform assignments and resolve a wide range of issues using accepted practices. OR EDUCATION: Applicants have successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position or have a bachelor's degree in education or a subject area related to the position and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants have less than the full amount of specialized experience described in the job opportunity announcement; however, they have completed some graduated-level education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-5 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of technical training programs to perform assignments designed to support technical training Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources to determine quality, accuracy, and applicability Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; a qualified typist is not required Skill in applying basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve conflicts and determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the program Ability to use one or more established computer programs/software (Microsoft Office) to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
