The Opportunity:
You’ll step into a key role supporting the Naval Maritime Maintenance Enterprise Solution (NMMES), the Navy’s enterprise-wide system used across public shipyards to plan, manage, and execute maintenance for the fleet. As a Training Specialist, you will help ensure that thousands of Navy personnel, civilians, and contractors can effectively use the tools and processes that keep ships mission-ready. You’ll lead the development and delivery of high-impact training, create engaging instructional materials, and collaborate closely with functional experts, engineers, and program leadership to translate complex system capabilities into clear, practical learning experiences. This is a chance to serve as a senior-level expert—shaping training strategy, supporting major modernization efforts, and empowering the workforce that maintains the Navy’s most critical assets. You’ll bring your expertise, creativity, and judgment to strengthen Navy readiness and directly support the success of one of the Navy’s most important maintenance programs.
Responsibilities:
Conduct the research necessary to develop, update, and enhance NMMES training courses.
Prepare, maintain, and update all training catalogs and associated reference materials.
Develop instructor materials including course outlines, background content, and training aids.
Create comprehensive student materials such as manuals, workbooks, handouts, certificates, and course critique forms.
Deliver formal training through classroom instruction, workshops, seminars, and computer-based/computer-aided training.
Independently plan, design, and execute training initiatives with minimal oversight.
Provide expert consultation on complex or large-scale training projects.
Serve as a top-level contributor/specialist within the training team.
Lead, mentor, or direct the work of others as required.
Ensure training content aligns with Government standards, program requirements, and user readiness objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Minimum 7 years of experience in training development, instructional design, or a closely related discipline.
Active Secret Clearance
Strong understanding of instructional systems design concepts, practices, and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex tasks independently and manage multiple training projects simultaneously.
Experience creating both instructor-led and student-facing training materials.
Proven ability to conduct formal classroom and virtual/CBT-based training sessions.
Ability to provide consultation and guidance on complex or high-visibility training initiatives.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Experience collaborating with technical teams, SMEs, and program stakeholders.
Desired:
Experience supporting Navy programs, shipyard environments, or large-scale maintenance or ERP systems.
Familiarity with NAVSEA training processes, the shipyard enterprise environment, or DoD instructional systems design standards.
Certifications such as CompTIA CTT+, ATD credentials, or Navy Master Training Specialist.
Experience mentoring junior trainers or leading training teams.
