Training Manager - Nutrition Services

Job Description:

Leads the development and delivery of training programs for Nutrition Services staff, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards. Serves as the subject matter expert for department technology systems and is responsible for identifying training needs, developing new training programs, and driving the ongoing expansion of a comprehensive, department-wide training program.

MINIMUM EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Nutrition, or related field (or equivalent work experience)

EQUIPMENT & VEHICLES USED
Frequent use of computers and technology systems, use of personal vehicle traveling to sites, occasional warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, etc)

ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Exposure to varying temperatures, including hot cooking areas and cold refrigeration/freezer environments
High noise levels from kitchen equipment and meal service operations
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and food allergens
Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Wet or slippery floors and surfaces requiring attention to safety procedures
Sharp tools (e.g., slicers, knives)
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate (e.g., gloves, aprons, hair restraints)

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Area Managers to assess and address training needs

Manage and deliver training programs, including New Hire onboarding, Manager-in-Training, ServSafe, and ongoing staff development.  Areas of training include, but are not limited to, USDA regulations, Health Department standards, department policies, HACCP and food safety, meal prep and cooking, and computer systems

Provide hands-on training and guidance to all kitchen staff at all school sites throughout the school year.

Serve as subject matter expert for nutrition technology systems (POS, inventory, menu planning)

Oversee training specialist(s) and technology specialist

Create and maintain training materials, SOPs, and training records to support audit readiness

Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Track required certifications and compliance training

Train staff, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with IT/vendors on system updates

Provide site support, including occasional coverage as needed

Identify training needs and develop new training programs to support staff growth and operational excellence

Work Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years work experience in School Nutrition or foodservice | Not Required

Advanced verbal and written English communication skills and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written, graphic and oral instructions, Collaborative team player, Experience with food service technology systems, Knowledge of USDA school meal programs and food safety standards, Maintains a generally positive and professional attitude, ServSafe Certified Manager and Certified Proctor (within 6 months of hire), Strong organizational and leadership skills, Strong verbal and written communication skills, Willingness and commitment to observe and model all District policies and procedures

Full Salary Range:

$63,821.14 USD - $97,920.00 USD Annual
  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
