About You

In one of our manufacturing roles, you’ll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. Job responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development, deployment, strategy, and training of the Training 4 Excellence (T4E) program across the manufacturing site. This role will provide leadership, guidance, coordination, and functional direction to drive and sustain improvements in personnel capability and performance utilizing CI principles and training strategies to deliver improved results in the facility.  
  • Report directly to the site Continuous Improvement and Capabilities Manager; and will receive directions from KCNA Training & Capability Sr. Manager. The position is responsible for executing the KCNA T4E multi-year strategy, addressing site specific training needs/gaps and engaging team members across the organization, to drive continuous improvement through training and capability improvements of Manufacturing/Operations & Maintenance & Reliability team members. This role will provide day-to-day work direction for the trainers/training coordinators throughout the site along with teaching, coaching, and mentoring other site team members.  Actively pursues and supports standard training solutions across the site and within the KCNA Supply Chain. 
  • Consult with site safety team on training best practices, documentation, and tracking.
  • Support and champion safety in your manufacturing site by ensuring training documents reflect current safety standards and practices. 
  • Ensure training documents and classroom training are updated, as appropriate, after a safety incident. 
  • Ensure a strong safety lens is present in all training; either on the floor or in the classroom to build a safety mindset in all team members across the site.  
  • Support loss control throughout the organization by reinforcing safety systems that demonstrate safety as a value. 
  • Fully comply with site and corporate loss management policies.
  • Consult with site quality team on training best practices, documentation, and tracking.
  • Support and champion quality by ensuring training documents reflect current quality standards and practices. 
  • Ensure a quality lens is present in all training; either on the floor or in the classroom to build a quality mindset in all team members across the site.
  • Ensure training documents and processes comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage yourself in accordance with the Ways of Working and Kimberly-Clark values.
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership to build the capability of the T4E training team by providing work expectations, guidance and coaching to address barriers to delivery.
  • Manage team performance by setting objectives, conducting 1:1’s, regular coaching, communication and executing performance reviews. 
  • Defines and coaches training coordinators in their efforts to provide education on training tools, processes, and techniques to manufacturing site personnel as needed.
  • Implement activities that build rapport between the training team and other site personnel.
  • Lead, mentor, and support entire site in execution of the training calendar and execution plan.
  • Identify site wide capability gaps and prioritize activities to address these gaps, collaborating with training coordinators as needed.
  • Provide consultation to other site training resources (Safety, Quality, etc.) in their training program execution and documentation. 
  • Delivery: Standardizes training processes through execution of KCNA T4E strategy and understanding key customer needs by:
  • Lead mill annual strategy deployment and develop and manage site annual A3/TIP in connection with KCNA T4E strategies and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance and execution of KCNA T4E framework standards, including but not limited to, new hire orientation, new to role, new to department, qualified/certified and mastery process, skills refresh, continuous improvement, leadership training and knowledge transfer.
  • Develop mill training plans and schedules. 
  • Partner with key customers to examine skill/knowledge deficiencies to allow targeted development of training programs.
  • Partner with Continuous Improvement team to proactively address and respond to training issues and gaps through root cause analysis, problem solving, diagnostic interviews and surveys.
  • Partner with appropriate site teams to develop and deploy New Hire On-Boarding for new/transfer employees. 
  • Assist with the management, organization, planning and execution of all aspects of Frontline Leadership Development Weeks. As a T4E mill host, activities include but are not limited to registration, communication, pre-work, post work assignments, room logistics, communication/visual management, visitor access and meal planning. As a non-mill host, activities include registration of participants, communication, pre and post work assignments and communication. 
  • As needed, conduct focus group sessions to identify learning and training needs, including post-training follow-ups to assess training effectiveness and modify as needed.
  • Manage relationships with third party vendors for training and development. (internal partnership 3rd party vendors and external training 3rd party vendors)
  • Manage site on-the-job (OJT) trainer program to support training needs and increase employee engagement, including train-the-trainer requirements and qualifications, reporting structure and incentive and recognition plan.
  • Ensure effective training materials are developed and maintained in Learning Management System and team members are properly trained to enable vertical start-ups for equipment changes and/or Capital projects. 
  • Lead Site T4E strategy deployment in connection with KCNA T4E/Training & Capability Strategies and priorities.
  • Establish a regular cadence of floor/Gemba time to understand what’s working well and what training issues exist.
  • Execute T4E Leader Standard Work.
  • Promote KCNA SC training & development opportunities that may be applicable to mill team members.
  • Act as an external resource to other mills as it relates to training/T4E.
  • Lead and/or participate in KCNA T4E projects, as assigned. 
  • Serve as an external resource/benchmark to other mills as it relates to training/T4E.
  • Execute and/or develop marketing/branding or communications to support T4E programs (brochures, flyers, etc.).
  • Delivery: Establishes and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that display the health of the training program
  • Perform health checks and audits in all areas to ensure adherence to KCNA training standards.
  • Works with teams to identify and enforce visual standards.
  • Works with training team to create and sustain Leader Standard Work.
  • Assists in prioritization of workload and ensure discipline to the mindsets & behaviors within the management infrastructure.
  • Identifies and implements leading and lagging metrics and reports/update KCNA T4E team, as required.
  • Driver of continuous improvement against training program.
  • Communicate with mill leadership and KCNA T4E training core team members/mills as it relates to training needs, issues or gaps.
  • Give feedback to training team, trainers and trainees as needed, in a constructive manner as it related to training issues.
  • Establish recurring meetings with mill T4E team.
  • Establish recurring meetings with asset/platform leaders to keep them current on T4E training, status, issues, progress and new hires.
  • Establish recurring meetings with mill leadership team to review T4E status, progress and challenges.
  • Attend and participate in recurring KCNA T4E Core Team meetings and teleconferences.
  • Attend and participate in face-to-face KCNA T4E Core team meetings and workshops.
  • Attend CI diagnostic report-outs to gain understanding of training needs for Operations, Maintenance & Reliability and establish appropriate follow-ups as needed.
  • Partner with key customers to examine skill/knowledge deficiencies to allow targeted development of training.
  • Partner with Continuous Improvement team to respond to training issues and gaps through root cause analysis, problem solving, diagnostic interviews and surveys. Work with training teams, both at staff and mill level, to prioritize and address identified capability gaps.
  • Actively engage in benchmarking and sharing of best practices.
  • Work effectively with all support groups such as Operations, Maintenance & Reliability, KCNA T4E/Training & Capability Team, external training vendors, leadership, etc.
  • Partner with customer(s) post problem solving to respond to/correct training issues.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Required:

  • Position requires knowledge and experience typically associated with a bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of related experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment/plant experience.
  • The incumbent would typically have extensive experience in several of the following: Learning and Development, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Lean Manufacturing, and Maintenance.
  • Possess demonstrated ability to coach and mentor at all levels of the organization to influence and drive collaboration across teams and functions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a variety of mill and staff assignments is desired along with a familiarity with other related disciplines and business functions to enable a system-wide view.
  • Ability to provide work directions to team members not in a direct reporting relationship.
  • Strong understanding of training systems, tools, technology, processes, and adult learning styles.
  • Normal scheduled hours are days but can vary based on the need to support a 24/7 Operation.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 15% for team meetings, training workshops, benchmarking and best practice sharing across KCNA.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

Salary Range: 87,260 – 107,780 USD

Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
