General Area of Responsibility
Assisting the Master in terms of
Safety of on board, protection of the environment.
Implementing the SMS / statutory and classification
Management of tug of Discipline, Supervision, Maintenance and Provision
Comply with local, regional, national, international legislation and company safety management system HMS
Readiness for operations and Seaworthiness
Specific Area of Responsibility:
The Trainee Master reports to the Master,
support him in executing and implementation of HMS.
As well as assist in associated operations of ship mooring and other marine related operations.
Overall operation on the bridge when on duty.
In case of emergency and the Master is not available the Trainee Master takes over the master responsibility as above but also according to Emergency Response Manual
To perform operational duties as requested by the Master, related to all tasks of the vessel including assisting with Towing and salvage jobs.
To monitor maintenance and housekeeping duties on deck, in the engine room or accommodation is done in safe manner and with good seamanship
Motivate the vessel crew to be familiar with requirements of, and to comply with, the safety management system HMS.
Propose initiatives for raising the on-board safety level

Motivate and educate crew in Proactive and Near Miss Reporting and Stop Work
Active participation in safety training like drills on board including delivering training to other crew members
Comply with local, regional, national and international legislation.
Comply with the regulations of the company safety management system HMS.
Preferred Experiences
Minimum 2 year of sea time, preferably on board ASD tugs.
Required Education and competencies
Chief Mate certificate (STCW II/3)
Valid seaman book/ valid COC
Valid GMDSS & GOC
Valid seafarer medical certificate
