Trainee Manager - ING International Talent Program (ITP)

The Team
You’ll be part of HR People Services, Talent Acquisition and working in a dedicated team that manages the ITP in the Netherlands. The program offers top graduates a two-year journey focused on personal development and gaining a deep understanding of ING. Together with two colleagues, you will be responsible for the selection, onboarding, coaching, and guidance of approximately 70 trainees across tracks such as Wholesale Banking, Retail Banking, Business Banking, Operations & Change, Finance, Risk, Analytics, Tech, and HR. Collaboration with Employer Brand Activation, Campus Recruitment, and the Global HR ITP team is key to success.

Roles and Responsibilities
As Trainee Manager, you will:

Selection of Trainees

  • Collaborate with Employer Brand Activation and Campus Recruitment to attract top talent.

  • Conduct selection interviews using the STAR methodology.

  • Coordinate and participate in final selection rounds (Business Panels) with senior managers.

Guidance for Trainees

  • Match trainees to suitable projects based on preferences, development needs, and business requirements.

  • Support trainees in finding subsequent assignments and permanent positions through career and development conversations.

  • Conduct regular development discussions and progress reviews with the business.

Organization and Implementation

  • Organize and facilitate events that contribute to trainee development, such as onboarding programs, training courses, group assignments, and graduation events.

  • Work closely with the Global ITP team to ensure the program continues to support trainee development effectively.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A Master’s degree and at least 4-5 years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience as a sparring partner for line management, providing high-level reflections.

  • A practical, ‘can-do’ attitude with strong multitasking skills while maintaining strategic oversight. You drive execution with a practical approach and a strong ability to get things done.

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and conflicting interests with ease and can effectively communicate difficult messages.

  • Fluent communication skills in Dutch and English.

  • Enthusiasm and energy to embrace this challenge as a true team player.
