Trainee Customer Field Technician

NSW - Eastern Creek - Unit 5 / 2 Southridge St - Ground Floor Full time

Job Expectations

We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Trainee Customer Field Technician, joining our Field Operations team on a 12‑month traineeship. This role is designed to support you as you build both confidence and capability while completing a Certificate III in Telecommunications and learning alongside experienced technicians, coaches and engineers.

A bit about your role
As a Trainee Customer Field Technician, you will play an important part in connecting communities by supporting the installation, repair and maintenance of nbn’s network across customer premises and external infrastructure. With guidance and encouragement from your field team, you will learn how to work across a range of technologies including fibre, copper and HFC, while delivering safe, high‑quality outcomes for customers every day. This role is hands‑on and purposeful, combining technical problem‑solving with genuine human connection, as you collaborate closely with colleagues, partners and customers to ensure work is completed right the first time. Your contribution will directly support nbn’s commitment to reliable services, customer trust and keeping people connected.

A bit about you
You are curious, motivated and eager to learn, with a strong sense of care for the people you work with and the customers you support. You bring a customer‑first mindset, communicate clearly and warmly, and feel comfortable working as part of a supportive team while building the confidence to work independently over time. You are safety‑conscious, organised and thoughtful in your approach, taking pride in doing things well and following process. Whether you have some exposure to technical or trade‑based environments or are ready to begin your career journey, you are open to feedback, committed to growth and excited to develop practical skills that make a real difference in communities across Australia.
