ELS is hiring for the position of Trail Guide in Oceano, California.What you’ll do:
As a Maintenance Worker / Trail Guide your primary area of responsibility is the Pony Ride amenity, offered during our busy season. Pony Rides consist of the Trail Guide leading a company horse, with the child on the back, around a small, circular corral. Pony rides are offered to the children and grandchildren of our guests (age and weight restrictions apply). This position is a front facing customer service position. Candidate will need to have experience with and be comfortable around children. You work as part of a team to ensure the resort meets the quality maintenance standards set by ELS.
Your job will include:
Quickly building a strong working relationship with company horses and existing staff.
Ensuring all equipment is compliant, clean, and ready.
Ensuring the corral area is safe and ready for daily rides.
Preparing horse(s) for daily rides – catch, groom, saddle.
Assisting with and verifying all paperwork is completed.
Full operational execution of pony ride experience.
Providing the best possible service to our guests and riders.
Horse care as assigned (feeding, brushing, etc.).
You will be required to move heavy objects, and you may drive maintenance vehicles to various locations on the property.
Working closely with management to maintain a clean, safe and appealing property.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
This is a part-time, seasonal position (up to 24 hours/week; May-September) and candidate must work weekends and holidays.
Skills & experience you need:
Must love horses and children
Horsemanship Requirements: 5 years, Western preferred.
Strong attention to safety and detail-focused.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain safety procedures.
Basic Office Skills / Clerical duties – assist guests with filling out paperwork.
Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and current auto insurance.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with heavy equipment.
Willing to be on call for emergencies that arise after hours.

Estimated compensation for this position in the states of CA, CO, IL, MA, MD, MN, NJ, NY, VT and WA is:
Hourly: $17.50 - $18.50The salary listed is an estimate and not guaranteed. A salary offer will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to the base pay and our benefits, some positions are eligible for bonuses, sales commissions, or incentive pay.
