The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. Although the full pay range is posted, the target hiring range is $90,000 -$115,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The Transportation Operations team is responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, and emergency repair of traffic control devices. They maintain a fiber optic communication network providing services to the DOTI, Information Technology Division and Denver Police Department. They also operate the Transportation Management Center and are responsible for signals, electronics repair, utility locates, sign installation, sign manufacturing and pavement markings.
As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for direct supervision of the Tech Shop team, and partner with the Construction and Maintenance side of the Signals section.
Specifically, you will:
Supervise technicians and perform skilled shop and field tasks in assembling, installing, servicing, testing, repairing, and adjusting electrical, electronic, and mechanical components of traffic signals and related traffic control devices.
Coordinate with internal groups as well as Light Rail, Union Pacific, and Denver Fire on planning and implementation of technical services utilizing equipment and functions (Intelight/ Econolite controllers, programing functions like peer to peer, overlaps, logic).
Direct supervision of crew members both in the field and at City facilities which includes hiring, training, performance evaluations, scheduling, disciplinary/corrective action, coaching, career development, team building, and ensuring safety
Assisting the Signals Section Manager with updates and progress with work orders and maintenance by using proper electronic documentation - OpenGov, MS Office applications
Assist in scheduling for Frank Shift, standby, holiday responsibilities for crew; ensuring adverse hours coverage
Communicate with Denver Police Department on the schedule to have clear expectations with who is on shift for two-way communication
Provide prompt and excellent customer service in response to questions/concerns from diverse groups such as external and internal stakeholders such as engineers, the public, contractors, and inspectors
Mentor and provide technical assistance to crew members as well as continuous learning focusing on DOTI initiatives and innovations. In addition, ensure crew follow current MUTCD and IMSA Rules and Regulations
Assist Manager to develop annual work programs within the respective crews they supervise and monitor related KPIs (key performance indicators) and metrics to track outcomes against program goals
Responsible for crew’s data input and accuracy of asset management and signal timing systems to manage work order delivery, inventory control, and labor hours
Lead the crew to promote growth and opportunity and partner with fellow Traffic Signals Supervisors to foster efficiency and build an excellent department
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Thorough understanding of MUTCD and IMSA Rules and Regulations
At least 5 years experience with Intelight/Econolite Controllers and NEMA Cabinets
Microsoft office
Experience with TransSuite central service system
Passion for excellent customer service; adding value to the City, DOTI, and our customers; and the safe use of the public right of way
Dedication as a valued, collegial team supervisor who supports and mentors junior traffic signal technicians and fosters a positive work environment
Adaptability to technology, innovations, and eagerness to grow and develop with the team
Previous experience supervising or leading a team
Data-driven technical reporting ability with verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate initiative and deconfliction skills in performing assigned duties, identifying challenges and solutions, and supporting DOTI’s values and goals
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of experience in traffic signal installation, construction, maintenance, or repair
Education/Experience Equivalency Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
