Job Description:

The Traffic Coordinator role involves directing and planning daily inbound and outbound freight movements, overseeing transportation companies' operational activities, and providing expert freight management support to shipping teams. Responsibilities include managing Finished Goods Inventory, ensuring compliance with shipping documentation and financial controls, and addressing customer inquiries and shipping issues. The role requires coordinating shipments, processing orders through the TMS, and maintaining communication with carrier companies to confirm arrival times.

What you'll do

  • Primary Site Contact for Inbound and Outbound Shipments and Driver Check-in

  • Directs and plans daily freight moves both inbound and outbound.

  • Directs and controls the daily operational activity of transportation companies.

  • Provides transportation and freight management expertise to shipping teams.

  • Pro-actively manages and responds to internal and external customer requests for information.

  • Assists with inbound and outbound international ocean freight management.

  • Responsible and accountable for Finished Goods Inventory status and works with Logistics, OPS, or Sales to release available inventory for shipment on the ground.

  • Assists in the management of site-specific financial controls related to shipping, invoice recognition, and proper shipping documentation – including Bills of Lading and Canadian Customs invoices.

  • Advises transportation companies in meeting AWP freight management requirements (e.g., proper trailer configuration, load securing, cross-Canadian border requirements, and documents).

  • Responds to customer inquiries and resolves shipping issues including tracking and tracing, freight damage, and cost. Escalates issues as appropriate.

  • Supports operational reviews of transportation providers by maintaining transportation metrics related to on-time performance and shipping capacity provided.

  • Reviews freight bills and resolves discrepancies related to service performance or shipping tariffs.

  • Coordinates and prepares machine picks and movements, including daily load plans for Reconfiguration, OBI, LTL, Will Call, International, and Domestic deliveries.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of Dept. of Transportation (DOT) regulations and basic Hazardous Materials regulations.

  • Assist in direction/sequence of loading shipping containers, flatbed, and dry trailers.

  • Responsible for performing key TMS Transactions Daily.

  • Responsible for updating and Maintaining critical DC Scheduling information in Foundry.

What you'll bring

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.

  • At least two years’ experience in Distribution Center or similar environment.

  • A minimum of one year of experience in using Oracle or equivalent ERP.

  • Strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement, along with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite. Candidates should have a solid understanding of finished goods staging, distribution methods, and the packing and securing of goods for various modes of transportation, including truck, rail, container, and air freight.

  • Knowledge of the freight transportation industry, including tariffs and documentation, is required.

  • Strong human relations skills are necessary to provide leadership, communicate effectively, and maintain positive working relationships with peers.

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds and responsibilities. The candidate must relate well to a wide variety of people in a professional and diplomatic manner.

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and expedite the movement of finished goods is essential, along with maintaining accurate shipment records

Pay: The hourly range for this position is $26.15 - 32.69.
